If you are visiting Paris and want to experience French cuisine at its best without spending the whole of your vacation’s budget, here is the perfect place . It is a great spot to feel like a local, go out in style and to exercise your senses with a cascade of delicious treats.Institut Vatel is not your typical restaurant, it is part of the eponymous school of tour-ism trade and culinary arts. Which means that you will be served by very kean younsg-sters supervised by frowning teachers.

Everything here is very well taken care of, from the booking over the phone to the coat service when you arrive. Granted it is a bit disconcerting at first to be helped by so many little elves, the atmosphere is relaxing and we had a perfect dinner.The restaurant offers three different set menus to choose from (35€, 40€, 47€) with a combination of elaborate but accessible dishes. I personnally had the Foie gras (second best after my Mum’s) and the filet de St Pierre (white fish with fancy decoration).OOff course, I was waiting for the trolleys of desserts and I did my best to honour the Chef patissier who took pride in detailing the ingredients of each cake.The whole experience is refined and smart but also very filling if you eat the amuse bouse (a bite to tickle your palate), the three course meal (portions are quite generous), the bread and cheese and last, the miniardises (little things to nimble with your coffee).
