Purpose license revision
• New desired situation compared to licensed situation due to:
– extension HLW treatment & storage building (HABOG +)
• life extension NPP (Borssele)
– Extension DUO storage building (VOG2)
• continuing enrichment of Uranium-235 (Urenco)

Policy and assessment framework
25
Aspects in Safety assessment
The fundamental element of the safety assessment is the assessment of the radiological impact on humans and the environment in terms of both radiation dose and radiation risks

Safety Assessment Report (SAR)
• shall include:
– Testing of initial ideas for safety concepts;
– Site or location selection;
– Demonstration of the safety of the facility;
– Optimization of the facility design;
– Evaluation of clearance and discharge;
– Safety Impact Assessment;
• operational maximum inventory of waste
– Definition of operational limits & controls;

Contour plots of maximum individual dose (nSv/yr) outside the industrial zone due to maximum disharge to air from LILW building
The maximum individual dose at the fench of COVRA = ~ 270 nSv/year.

LICENSE !
• On 7th of January 2015: I (the Minister) have found that the implementation of the proposed changes to the décor is justified and that the planned expansion of the HABOG+ and VOG2 is to be built in a responsible and safe manner !
• However: final decision is by State Council on 8th of September 2015
