Two Way Dual Language

• During Pre-K through First grade, students learn Language Arts in their native language.

• Durante el pre-kínder hasta el primer grado, los estudiantes aprenderán artes del lenguaje en su idioma nativo.

• Second – Fourth grade, students learn Language Arts in English and Spanish.

• Segundo a cuarto grado, estudiantes aprenderán artes del lenguaje en Ingles y Español.

• All students learn Mathematics in English.

• Todos los estudiantes aprenderán matemáticas en Ingles.

• All students learn Science and Social Studies in Spanish.

• Todos los estudiantes aprenderán Ciencias y Estudios Sociales en Español.

• Students learn content together in bilingual pairs or groups. Content is not repeated in both languages.

• Estudiantes aprenderán el contenido en pares bilingües o grupos. El contenido no se repite en ambos lenguaje.

• There is a language of the day that alternates between English and Spanish within the classroom and the campus will join in as they can.

• By the end of the Kindergarten year the students will write correctly constructed sentences in their native language and in their second language.

• Interventions will occur on an as needed basis (as they do now) in the appropriate language.

• Intervenciones ocurrirán cuando sean necesarias (como sucede en estos momentos) en el idioma apropiado.

• IEP (Individual Education Plan) services will be provided that are needed.

• Servicios de IEP (Planes Educativos Individuales) serán proporcionados cuando sean necesarios.

• Teachers will do their very best to ensure homework covers tasks student can do independently. But, you should ask them questions and let them teach you; teaching is the highest order of building understanding.

• Students in a Dual Language Program will be bilingual and bi-literate.

How do I Apply for My Child?

 

¿Cómo puedo aplicar para que mi niño participe?

• Application forms will be available at Mt. Pleasant schools and at the Administration building.

• Las formas de aplicación estarán disponibles en las escuelas de Mount Pleasant y el edificio de administración.

• Commitment letters for parents will also be available.

• Cartas de Compromiso para los padres también estarán disponibles.

• Names will be placed in groups to draw as appropriate, first by language, then gender, and then ethnicity for each campus.
