Meeting minutes will be shared and parents are encouraged to contact our P&C with any ideas they may have. Staffing We welcome back Mrs Badger this week after her wonderful experiences. In welcoming her back, we say a huge thank you to Mrs Field who has stepped into the Support role, and also Mrs Glasson who has been working in 456 for this time. Clucktastic On Wednesday 4 of our students travelled to Crystal Creek PS to see how this school has set up its chicken program. They were able to see how it is designed, how it functions and how we may be able to use this information as part of our sustainability program. Thanks to Lija and Annie for organising this experience. Creative Kids program In weeks 5 and 9 of Terms 2 and 3, our school will participate in a Creative Kids program. This will offer our kids some amazing opportunities to grow their creative talents through ICT, Visual Arts and STEM. Parent transport is required for the APPLE Store aspect of this program, with information shared earlier this week. No Sushi will be ordered on the Creative Workshop Fridays, lunch can be taken to Robina or purchased at the shopping centre. Flexischools Our school is establishing a new component of communication between the school and its community. The Flexischools app provides quick, easy and effective channels of communication of messages, notices, notes, information dissemination, urgent issues and even menus. It is really simple to implement (separate information will follow) and it will work alongside all of our current communication procedures, including newsletter, facebook and website. Stewart House Concert Tuesday 2 nd July is the set date for our whole school Stewart House concert with all of the other small schools in the area. This will take place at the Tweed Civic Centre, with a matinee and evening performance. Our Norfolk fundraisers will also be hosting the food stall at this event. Small Schools Soccer This competition is specifically for small schools, with adjusted rules to suit. We will be travelling to Burringbar PS on Monday 17 th June top play the first two rounds of this competition. Our 4/5/6 class are busily preparing for this event, and having heaps of fun in the process. Save the date: June 15 Our hard working fundraising committee are putting together a fantastic Music Trivia Night, to be held at the Kingscliff Beach Bowling Club on June 15 th . It will be a really fun night, with heaps of terrific prizes. Tables of 6 on the night with $15 per head, live music, BYO table snacks, drinks from the bar, auction, raffles and heaps of laughter. Principal’s Report

P&C Meeting

Thanks to all of our parents who were able to meet with us on

Tuesday in our meeting. Meeting minutes will be shared and

parents are encouraged to contact our P&C with any ideas they

may have.

Staffing

Cross Country

Last Friday, 8 of our students travelled to Murwillumbah to

compete at the District Cross Country event. From all re-

ports they gave their best efforts and did themselves, our

school and the Small School team proud. Congratulations

Raffle Tickets - Raffle Tickets are to be drawn at the

school Music Trivia Night on 15th June 2019. The cost is

$2 per ticket. Please return all unsold tickets, sold ticket

stubs and money to the school before Friday 14th June.

passes; Currumbin Sanctuary Family Pass; Timezone (2

hour play passes); $100 Bunnings Vouchers; Sports Duffle

P & C News All future P&C Meetings will be held on Tuesdays in Weeks 4

and 8 of each Term. Wednesday Lunch Cook is still required for Wednesday 19 June please. BOOK SALE - SATURDAY 15TH JUNE 9.00 am - 2.00 pm - MURWILLUMBAH MARKERS AND FINDERS MARKET, Knox Park, Murwillumbah. Volunteers to help at the stall are required from 9.30 am. Money raised will go towards our library upgrade and new books.

Reminder Student Banking is on Thursday mornings and please ensure your child drops their banking into the office before school.

Board Shorts and Rashies are for sale in the office, for only $10. Fundraiser for P&C.

Office News Hoodies - Our new stocks of Fleecy Lined Hoodies have arrived, in

all sizes, and still at the low price of $30 each.

General Permission Note was sent home with the last Newsletter,

it is to be completed an returned to the school, as soon as possible.

The Internet Agreement section does not apply to Kindergarten and

Year 1 students.

FINANCIAL STATEMENTS for families will be attached to this News-

letter. Payment may be made using our POP (Parent Online

Payment) method or Cash.

As mentioned in the Principal’s Report, the Flexischools App is now

operational at this school, to enable parents to access Newsletters,

Permission Notes, Calendar reminders, Alerts, for you to advise us

of student absences and as a general communication tool. Please

download this App onto your phone and advise me, via a message

on the App, if you would like to Opt Out of receiving a paper version

of the Newsletter.

REPORTABLE ILLNESSES - It is an Education Department require-

ment for parents/carers to advise the school if your child has

contracted head lice, school sores, measles, etc ( list attached).

Your child’s name will be kept confidential, but once we have been

advised, an information handout will be distributed to the whole

school.

Woolworths Earn and Learn

Program

Duranbah Public School is partici-

pating in the Woolworths Earn and Learn Program again this year.

We have sticker collection boxes placed at Kingscliff , Cabarita and

Tweed City Woolworths and at school. Collect as many stickers as

you can between 1 May and 25 June, 2019 to help us win new

equipment for our school. Attach your stickers to the collection

sheets sent home with the last Newsletter. IF POSSIBLE, PLEASE

ATTACH STICKERS TO THE COLLECTION SHEETS BEFORE PLACING

THEM IN THE BOXES, we do have extra sheets in the office.

Excursion to Crystal Creek Public School

on Wednesday 22nd May

“It was wonderful to work with another school who already have a fantastic chicken set up.

Their knowledge and practical information to support and help Duranbah PS with our

design and thinking about our Ecoschool grant.” - Annie
