Hello everyone. It was with great interest
that I listened to an exhausted Carolyn
Sullivan describe the wonderful activities
in which students were involved at the K-1
excursion to Red Hill last week. She said
the kids absolutely loved the range and
challenge of the tasks, with students occu-
pied right up until the conclusion of the
day. On the following day our future
Kindy students participated in another
successful and well organised Earlybirds
session which saw the students partici-
pate in mini lessons and activities aimed at
preparing them for an easy transition into
school life.
One of the feature events for the week
was the Lions Youth of the Year, held at
the Dunedoo Bowling Club on Thursday
night. George Dent, as compere for the
evening, ran an enjoyable evening , which
showcased outstanding talent from our
school. Congratulations to all the contest-
ants, Kaylee Samuel, Caitlin Christenson,
Edward Abbott and Claire Challinor Flynn.
Edward was successful on the night but
had to perform at his best to stave off
high level challenges from all the other
participants. The prepared speeches in
particular challenged the audience with
topics ranging from “the impact of ameri-
canisation”, “what is happiness” and “
how we treat homosexuals” to “facebook
access disorder”.
Our National Partnerships program is now
in place for next year with a continued
focus on Literacy from year 3 to 10 and
Numeracy becoming a focus in year K-2
with remedial programs from 5 to 8. Our
other major focus will be in student en-
gagement.
The SRC elections have taken place and
the new Council will be announced later in
the week. It was extremely pleasing to see
so many students nominate from each
year.
This week the secondary students depart
on their Southern excursion to Kiama and
its environs, some remaining students will
travel to Coolah for their “sustainable en-
ergy” day to experience wind and other
energy turbines, Year11 will be visiting
Course related industries in Dubbo, the
Year 6 into 7 Transition Program will be-
gin, Earlybirds continues and the Tri-
school Volley Ball Competition will take
place at Coolah Central. Enjoy your week.

Kindergarten Welcome to week 8. I hope you all enjoyed your weekend. Kinder had a fantastic time at Red Hill
last Thursday and our Tabloid day last Friday with St Michaels and our Earlybirds was a great success. This week we will
be revising our “tricky words” and our shared big book is “Grandma Pickleberry’s Cold”. In Maths we are continuing
revision activities - in particular we are concentrating on writing numbers to 30 to try and stamp out reversals. Home
Readers will finish this week, can they all be returned to school by Friday. This week we will also begin practising our
item for the end of year concert. We hope you can all come along! I will keep you posted as to what the children will be
wearing. Don’t forget your money for Go Go Golf the last one for the year! Congratulations to Bailey Fogg our Student of
the Week and to Harry Magklis and Harry Hayes who received Merit Certificates. Mrs Yeo
Year 1 Year 1 are still working hard but this week will be the last week for homework and spelling tests. Next week
we will start our Christmas activities. The children are looking forward to the Scripture Concert tomorrow and we thank
Mrs Michelle Henderson for all the time and effort she has put into preparing them for the play tomorrow and for sharing
her gift of music with us all. Congratulations to Kyle Smith our Student of the Week and Tayla and Harry who received
Merit Certificates. I am very pleased to see the children being so “sun smart” after our lesson last week. Keep listening
and learning. Mrs Sullivan
PRIMARY NEWS ⇒ If students are absent from school, please send in a note to your child’s teacher to explain their absence.
⇒ As the year is coming to an end it is essential to know about students that are leaving our school.
The number of students depends on classes for 2011 and how they are arranged. It is crucial to
notify the Principal about leavers. Could this please be done this week.
⇒ Primary End of Year Concert, 14th of December at 1.30pm at DCS Hall. All welcome.
⇒ Primary Reports are anticipated to be handed out this Friday.
⇒ Award Night: Tuesday, 7th December 2010.
⇒ Parent Interviews are on the 14th of December unless otherwise arranged with your Childs teacher.
⇒ Parents are welcome to come to Parent interviews at any time. If your child's report indicates that a inter-
view is not required, then it is still up to you if you would like to come and see the teacher. Communica-
tion with teachers is a vital part of your child's schooling. School finishes: Friday, 17th December. Stu-
dents last day is Wednesday 15th December. Mr D Elith, Assistant Principal Primary
