As the inaugural winners of the 3 – On – 3 Soccer Competition, Hatrick F.C (Henry Kensit, Jack Copeland and Jock Stuart) had

the opportunity to take on The Dream Team (Mr. Honeysett, Mr. Kline and Mr. Wilson) on Tuesday during lunch-time. This match proved to be a very close encounter with some great exhibition of skill by all players on the pitch. There was a huge crowd at the ground to watch this eagerly anticipated grudge match and they were cheering very very loudly for their ‘home’ team Hatrick F.C. The game started out with both teams fighting for possession of the ball and working out the opposing team’s strengths and weaknesses. The tide then turned The Dream Teams’ way when they found Hatrick F.C standing back and not attacking the football. The teachers produced some crisp clean passing to unleash a flurry of goals to take a commanding 5 – 0 score line into the half-time break. Both teams were exhausted and needed some H2O after a frenetic first half of football and they had to regroup for a tough 10 minute second half. It was Hatrick F.C who came steaming out of the sheds with an improved game plan and they had The Dream Team back peddling as they rolled in goal after goal thanks to a superb Jock Stuart hat-trick and two classy goals from striker Jack Copeland. With only 2 minutes remaining the scores were locked up at 5 – 5. The game was in the balance, Hatrick F.C definitely had the advantage in crowd support, fitness levels and speed but they just couldn’t find the back of the net. In their favour was Henry Kensit who repelled wave after wave of goal attempts from The Dream Teams’ strikers, single handedly keeping them in the contest! With 60 seconds remaining Mr. Honeysett intercepted a cross pass from Hatrick F.C and dribbled past the lone defender who tried valiantly to stop him, he sized up the goal keeper and squeezed it into the back of the net past Henry’s outstretched left hand. The Dream Team then held on during the frantic final seconds to record an historic win. The crowd cheered as both teams shook hands after their epic battle. The Dream Team is now the undisputed CHAMPION of 3 – on – 3 Soccer, well until Term 4 that is…. The final score: The Dream Team 6 (Goals: Mr. Honeysett 4, Mr. Wilson 1, Mr. Kline 1) defeated Hatrick F.C 5 (Goals: Jock Stuart 3, Jack Copeland 2). A big THANK YOU to all spectators, parents and teachers/staff that came out to watch the game.

In Weeks 7 and 8 all students from K-12 participated in the annual Dunedoo Central School Writing Competition. Stu-dents had to write a narrative around the theme of belonging and were given a variety of written stimulus material to inspire their creativity. This year there was a focus on planning, drafting, editing and producing a final competition entry. Over a period of 3-4 days each year group went through the process of brainstorming ideas and planning their narrative. This was followed up with some intense drafting and editing before the final competition entry was written. All students appeared to enjoy participating in the competition and many were happy about being given the opportunity to polish and refine their writing. In each year group, the winner receives a certificate and prize, while two runners-up in each year group receive a Highly Commended certificate and prize. I would like to thank all of the staff members who volunteered to be judges this year. Your time and effort is truly appreciated and without your goodwill, these competitions would be far more difficult to organise. Mr. S. Hall

PRIMARY NEWS Our last week before the holidays. Our Primary Excursion to Sydney was a huge success! All the children had a fun and educational time visiting such landmarks as the Opera House, Harbour Bridge, Taronga Zoo and Darling Harbour to name but a few. Thanks to Mrs. Abbott and Mr. Kline for leading the excursion, and a huge thanks to Mrs. Leeson, Mrs. Stoddart, Mr. Hogden and Mr. Gallagher. Last Thursday our 3-6 students went to Bathurst for the Archibald prize exhibition. All students represented our school with pride and thanks to Mr. Honeysett and Mrs. Fergusson for travelling on the excursion. Congratulations to all students who received a merit award at today’s assembly, and well done to all our award winners in the Writing Competition this term. I would like to wish everyone a safe and happy holiday, and if your footy team is still in the finals, good luck! (Or better luck next year as the case may be!) See you next term! Joel Wilson—Assistant Principal Primary

Year 3/4: Hello all! What a wonderful time we had on the Primary Excursion! 55 students and 6 adults left Dunedoo at 6.30am Wednes-day and we returned very happy (and exhausted) on Friday night. There were too many highlights to list them all, so the newsletter includes the highlights in pictures, and no doubt we’ll be talking about it for the rest of the year. Well done to all involved. Our last week of term is upon us. In class we have our end of term assessments including the Maths Diagnostic test. We also wrap up our units in Science and HSIE. A big thankyou goes to Tash and Belinda for all their help this term with our home readers. Have a great week and happy and safe holidays. Mr. B. Kline

Year 4/5: Hello everyone, welcome to the end of Term 3. Last week was a very busy time at D.CS with The University of NSW visiting as part of the ASPIRE program, the Primary Excursion to Sydney and the Archibald Art Exhibition excursion to Bathurst. This week will see a return to normal programming. We have our Whole School Merit Assembly today – the highlight for me will be the presentation of the Narrative Writing Competition for each year group. As part of the marking process I had the pleasure of reading some extremely well written Narratives. All authors should be very proud of their efforts. Homework will resume as per usual also. In Mathematics, Year 4 will complete their Term 3 Diagnostic review this week. Hope you all have a great week and make sure you get all your rest in this week before the HOLIDAYS!!!!! Mr. A. Honeysett

Year 5/6: With so much happening last week, we are continuing our assessment of units this week and finishing up our Democracy, Energy and Maths topics. If you would like to see me about any matter, please make an appointment at the office. Have a safe holiday. Mr. J. Wilson

JACKEROO RANCH at

Bingletree Station Upper Turon Road

Upper Turon NSW 2795

SPRING SCHOOL HOLIDAY RIDING CAMPS Jackeroo Ranch (est. 52 years) and recently relocated to Bingletree Station at Upper Turon, are again running their popular horse riding camps in the Spring Vacation.

1st Week: Saturday 21st September—Sat 28th September 2nd Week: Saturday 28th September—Sun 6th October

Shorter stays are possible if camps are not fully booked. These camps are for “horse-mad” children aged from 6 to 16 years. Five to six hours per day are devoted to horse activities including a one hour lesson and three hours trail riding in the beautiful Turon Valley—with tuition still being given. As well, campers are taught grooming, saddling, haltering, catching a horse, safety aspects and many other facets of horsemanship. Previous experience is not necessary as beginner to advanced riders are catered for. We specialise in teaching nerv-ous riders and developing their confidence.

Other activities include gold panning, cattle feeding / checking, cattle mustering, camp fires and native wildlife spotting. (The prop-erty abounds with kangaroos, wallabies, wombats, wonderful bird life as well as being a working cattle farm and Quarter Horse Stud. There are Poll Hereford calves and Quarter Horse foals now being born.)

This is “not just a camp” - it’s a wonderful farm experience your child will treasure forever. Enquiries: Mrs. Pattie Hudson Phone (02) 6337 7173 (nights are best).
