• Completed a site visit to the University of Wisconsin Physical Sciences Lab with Kevin Fahey• Observed the dye penetrant welding testing on the first APA frame completed

by TEAM• Discussions relating to compliance with AWS & CERN welding requirements• Completed a shop tour including the APA winding area

• Working with Terri Shaw, Jim Priest & Olga Beltramello (CERN) to develop a DUNE Engineering Note to define criteria for ProtoDUNE-SP cables installed at the CERN EHN1 Facility • Guidance includes smoke & fire ratings for cables including the use of

halogenated vs. non‐halogenated cables inside and outside of the detector


Quality Assurance

• PSL APA • Witnessed the NDE (Visual and PT) of the welds on APA 1 at PSL. The results

were satisfactory. Reports are being corrected to reflect traceability back to APA 1.

• Provided further information on AWS D1.6 and pre‐qualified Weld Procedure Specifications.

• Discussed welding plans for the future APAs to ensure compliance with AWS D1.6.

• Continuing development of the template for the QC Plan• Following up on the requirements for the Production

Dual-Phase - Technical Progress

• 1x1x3 – filling delayed until January due to multiple factors; anticipate operation to begin ~25 January

• Piping purge scheduled to be complete by 5 December

• During CERN winter shutdown, system will remain with gas purge in closed loop purification

• Cool down and filling to occur in January after CERN reopens

• ProtoDUNE-DP final design to be complete by end of November

• Anticipating design review in March 2017

• Milestones incorporated into DUNE international schedule
