Crazy Hair Day It was great to see students and staff from Dundurrabin and the other small schools participate in Crazy Hair Day. Our students raised $30 for Cystic Fibrosis foundation. Thank you to Melissa, who had fun spraying student’s hair.

Congratulations Congratulations to Mrs Bingle who was presented with her Teachers’ Certificate by Mrs Keough at our combined schools day on Thursday. Mrs Bingle has worked extremely hard for this great achievement and we are very fortunate to have Mrs Bingle as one of our casual teachers.

SAKG Gardening & Cooking This week for gardening we designed seed packaging for our seeds that we save to sell. In the kitchen we cooked lamb hot pot, sautéed oca and kale, meat pasties and apple fruit scrolls.

Reminder - Weekly Contribution of $1 per student The kitchen garden program has ongoing costs each week, such as cooking ingredients, seeds and seedlings. We are asking that parents help contribute towards these costs by sending in $1 each Friday per child. The cost for Term 2 is $9 per student. Invoices for amounts owing by students are attached. It would be appreciated if these could be paid before Thursday 27th June. Thank you to all students who have paid in advance.

Blicks River Challenge Chess Tournament Our chess competition “Blicks River Challenge” is currently being played at school on Tuesdays and Thursdays at recess. All students are enjoying the challenge. Here are some of this week’s tournament photos.

School Uniform Please ensure your child/ren comes to school dressed in school uniform. We often use photos for promotional purposes, our school newsletter and website and these photos must contain students in school uniform. Our uniform is our jade school shirts, navy shorts/long pants and a navy sweater.

Cereal, cereal and even more cereal! Earlier this term, Kellogg's donated a number of cartons of breakfast cereal to our school for breakfast club. This week we will be sending cereal home with each family to be enjoyed over the holiday break.

Small School’s Athletics Carnival at Urunga –this Wednesday 26th June Our annual Small School’s Athletics Carnival is this Wednesday 26th June at Urunga Recreational Grounds starting at 9.30am and finishing at approximately 2.30pm. This is a great day for all students to showcase their athletic abilities and more importantly socialise with many of their peers from other small schools. We are taking Jim’s bus to Urunga on the day. Cost will be $10 per student or $20 per family of 3 students. This is a whole school excursion, teaching staff will be at the carnival on the day. Students who normally catch Jim’s bus will need to catch the High School bus run in the morning and will return home on the High School bus run in the afternoon. All other students will need to be at Tyringham Store at 7.50am and be collected at the Tyringham Store at 4pm. If you have not paid for this excursion yet, please do so by tomorrow.

There will be a wide variety of experiences including a smoking ceremony, indigenous dancing, traditional language, cooking, painting and bush tucker to name a few! We will be performing at Bellingen High School on Wednesday 31st July, as part of a Community of Schools Performance. This is our major celebration for Education Week with the performances showcasing the talent in our schools. Our students will be performing a skipping demonstration adapted from our end of term assembly. Students will be travelling down to Bellingen by bus during the day so they can rehearse before the performance begins. They will also be part of a large choir performance made up of every student performing that evening. Early next term permission notes will be sent home with the final details. All students are expected to attend this performance, if transport home for Bellingen is an issue please contact the school and we can make other arrangements. This is a whole school performance, and it's great to see your children perform in front of a large audience. Premier’s Reading Challenge Reminder Don’t forget to be reading for the Premier’s Reading Challenge at home. Students in the 3-6 class should be aiming to read 1 book each week from the approved book list. In total, a goal of 8 books for this term would be great. Students can check the book lists by logging into their portal and accessing “book lists”. See Mrs Sangster or Mrs Keough if you need help. Happy Reading! Book Covering Helpers Mrs Sangster has been catching up on accessioning new library books, but they will need to be covered with contact before students can borrow them. If anyone would like to assist with book covering and has some spare time, please contact Katrina at school.
