I’ve had a few weeks to get back into the swing of things and now feel like I never left, which is great. It shows what a fantastic job EVERYONE did while I was away. Whenever a staff member is away there is usually some disruption to others, however, it appears like my absence was quite seamless and my return has also been without issues. This really is a testament to the wonderful team of staff we have at Dudley Park. I need to say a huge thank you to everyone! It was also really special seeing all our wonderful students and the way they have welcomed me back. It truly is heart-warming to feel so cared for by our beautiful children. Thank you to all those students who welcomed me back. Swimming Lessons What a crazy busy time to come back with the annual fortnight of swimming well underway. I have managed to get to the pool for a couple of lessons so far and have been so impressed with our students. Overall, behaviour has been exceptional and this has been confirmed by the Centre Supervisor who has said how wonderful our students have been. It has also been great to see nearly all students participating in swimming this year. It really is a very important part of our curriculum given that we live with water all around us – being able to swim is really an essential set of skills for every child. A big thanks to Mr Matt White for organising swimming, it really is a huge job that requires a great deal of planning and organisation. Thank you also to all staff who have had to walk to the pool, particularly those who have done it a number of times a day. Without your support we would not be able to offer swimming at the cost of just pool entry making it inaccessible to many. Thank you all. WAGSMS This Thursday night our wonderful Performing Arts students will be performing in the WA Government Schools Music Society (WAGSMS) at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre. This is a very special night and I would encourage families to purchase tickets if possible. You will be guaranteed a memorable night. Thanks to Mrs Judy Smith for all the organisation and hours of rehearsals. Thank you also to all staff who have helped either during the lead up to the concert and on the night itself. Athletics Carnival Something else very exciting coming up is our annual Faction Athletics Carnival being held next Thursday and Friday. Thursday is when all the jumps and throws will be conducted and then Friday is all the running and team events. We encourage all students to wear their faction colour shirt with their school shorts. We would also love to see families come out and spend the day with us to watch all the children participating in their events. There will be a designated area for families and visitors to the school and we ask that no parents/carers go into the student faction bays. This is very important, and visitors found in the faction bays or surrounding areas will be asked to leave immediately. Students will be allowed to come and have lunch with their family. Just a friendly reminder that smoking, alcohol consumption and bringing dogs onto school property is strictly prohibited. Your support regarding this is very much appreciated. School Board In Week 10 Wednesday 25th September in the afternoon the DPPS Board will be holding an Open Meeting from 3.30 – 4.30 in the Library. All members of the Dudley Park Primary School community are welcome to attend and find out what the Board is all about. We are looking to increase the number of parents/carers representatives so please come along and enjoy a cuppa and see how you may be able to make a difference to your child/rens school. Open Night Following the Open Board Meeting, we are holding our Open Night from 4.30 to 6.30pm. All students will be given a ‘passport’ which encourages them to show you other classes and areas in the school where they can complete a simple activity to receive a stamp in their passport. All passports that have 8 stamps or more will go into the draw for some wonderful prizes. The canteen will be selling drinks and some snacks and there will also be a sausage sizzle! Looking forward to seeing you all there. Warm regards Christine Prandl PRIZE DRAW WINNERS: Abby Sims and Savannah Gay
