Sub-recipient Selection Process• Highest Need Model• Community is defined as “county”• Indicators included 11th grade 30 day alcohol
use, adult binge drinking, and law enforcement data
• Counties were ranked and scored• 23 counties were identified

Questions
Creating The LEW
• Epidemiological Workgroup created by May 13• Membership to include at least 3 people• Includes the SPF coordinator, but the coordinator
cannot be the chair• Will meet monthly, possibly more often in beginning• Members should:– be interested in data collection, analysis and
dissemination– Represent more than one agency or organization
Responsibilities of the LEW Chair• Can be a subcontracted position• Attend regional SPF trainings • Attend at least one contractor meeting each year• Will oversee completion of– Community assessment workbook (CAW)– Collecting local data– Baseline workbook– Update the CAW on a yearly basis– Cross-site evaluation surveys and other questionnaires– Help identify data gaps and other community indicators

• Full time position• IDPH has said that this person can be hired by
the prevention agency, Drug Free Community grantee or other substance abuse prevention coalition
• Decisions to make:– Who will hire the coordinator?– Where will the coordinator be housed?– Who will directly supervise the coordinator?
