Safety instructionsRead all the safety information and in-structions. Failure to observe the safety in-formation and follow instructions may resultin electric shock, fire and/or serious injury.

Save all safety warnings and instructions for future ref-erence.The term battery is used in these instructions to mean alloriginal Bosch eBike rechargeable battery packs.u Do not attempt to change – and especially increase –

the power of your drive or the maximum speed that itsupports. Doing this may put yourself and others at risk,and you may also breach statutory regulations.

u Do not open the drive unit yourself. The drive unitmust only be repaired by qualified personnel usingonly original spare parts. This will ensure that the safetyof the drive unit is maintained. Unauthorised opening ofthe drive unit will render warranty claims null and void.

u All components fitted to the drive unit and all othercomponents of the eBike drive (e.g. chainring, chain-ring receptacle, pedals) must only be replaced withidentical components or components that have beenspecifically approved by the manufacturer for youreBike. This will protect the drive unit from overloadingand becoming damaged.

u Remove the battery from the eBike before beginningwork (e.g. inspection, repair, assembly, maintenance,work on the chain, etc.) on the eBike, transporting itwith a car or aeroplane, or storing it. Unintentional ac-tivation of the eBike system poses a risk of injury.

u The eBike system can be activated by pushing theeBike backwards or by turning the pedals backwards.

u The push assistance function must only be used whenpushing the eBike. There is a risk of injury if the wheelsof the eBike are not in contact with the ground while usingthe push assistance.

u When the push assistance is activated, the pedals mayturn at the same time. When the push assistance func-tion is activated, make sure that there is enough spacebetween your legs and the turning pedals to avoid the riskof injury.

u After a ride, do not allow your unprotected hands orlegs to come into contact with the housing of the driveunit. Under extreme conditions, such as continuouslyhigh torques at low travel speeds, or when riding up hillsor carrying loads, the housing may reach a very high tem-perature. The temperature that the drive unit housing may reach isinfluenced by the following factors:– Ambient temperature– Ride profile (route/gradient)– Ride duration– Assistance modes– User behaviour (personal effort)– Total weight (rider, eBike, luggage)– Motor cover on the drive unit

– Heat dissipation properties of the bicycle frame– Type of drive unit and type of gear-shifting

u Use only original Bosch batteries that the manufac-turer has approved for your eBike. Using other batter-ies can lead to injuries and pose a fire hazard. Bosch ac-cepts no liability or warranty claims if other batteries areused.

u Do not make any modifications to your eBike systemor fit any other products that might increase the per-formance of your eBike system. Doing so will generallyreduce the service life of the system and risks damagingthe drive unit and the bike. You also run the risk of losingthe guarantee and warranty claims on the bicycle youhave purchased. By handling the system improperly youare also endangering your safety and that of other roadusers, thus running the risk of high personal liability costsand possibly even criminal prosecution in the event of ac-cidents that can be attributed to manipulation of the bi-cycle.

On sections of the drive, temperatures>60 °C may occur in extreme conditions,e.g. when carrying consistently high loads atlow speed when riding up hills or transport-ing loads.

u Observe all national regulations which set out the ap-proved use of eBikes.

u Read and observe the safety warnings and directionscontained in all the eBike system operating instruc-tions and in the operating instructions of your eBike.

AssemblyInserting and removing the batteryFor inserting and removing the eBike battery in/from theeBike, please read and observe the battery operating in-structions.

Checking the speed sensor (see figure A)The speed sensor (2) and its spoke magnet (3) must be fit-ted such that the spoke magnet moves past the speedsensor at a distance of at least 5 mm and at most 17 mmwith each rotation of the wheel.Note: If the distance between the speed sensor (2) and thespoke magnet (3) is too small or too large, or if the speedsensor (2) is not properly connected, the speedometer dis-play will fail and the eBike drive unit will operate in emer-gency mode. Should this occur, loosen the screw of the spoke magnet (3)and fasten the spoke magnet to the spoke such that it runspast the marking on the speed sensor at the correct clear-ance. If the speed is still not being indicated on the speedo-meter display after doing this, please contact an authorisedbicycle dealer.

OperationStart-upRequirementsThe eBike system can only be activated when the followingrequirements are met:– A sufficiently charged battery is inserted (see battery op-

erating instructions).– The on-board computer is properly inserted in the holder

(see on-board computer operating instructions).– The speed sensor is correctly connected (see "Checking

the speed sensor (see figure A)", page English – 2).

Switching the eBike system on/offThe following options are available for switching on theeBike system:– If the on-board computer is already switched on when you

insert it into the holder, the eBike system will be activatedautomatically.

– Once the on-board computer and the eBike battery arefitted, briefly press the on/off button on the on-boardcomputer.

– With the on-board computer inserted, push the on/offbutton on the eBike battery (bicycle manufacturer-spe-cific solutions are possible when there is no access to thebattery on/off button; see the battery operating instruc-tions).

The drive is activated as soon as you start pedalling (exceptif you are using the push-assistance function, Switching thepush assistance on/off). The motor output depends on thesettings of the assistance level on the on-board computer.

As soon as you stop pedalling when in normal operation, oras soon as you have reached a speed of 24 km/h, the eBikedrive switches off the assistance. The drive is automaticallyreactivated as soon you start pedalling again and the speedis below 24 km/h.The following options are available for switching off theeBike system:– Press the on/off button of the on-board computer.– Switch off the eBike battery using its on/off button (bi-

cycle manufacturer-specific solutions are possible whenthere is no access to the battery on/off button; see the bi-cycle manufacturer operating instructions).

– Remove the on-board computer from its holder.If the eBike is not moved for approx. 10 min and no button ispressed on the on-board computer, the eBike systemswitches off automatically in order to save energy.

eShift (optional)eShift is the integration of electronic gear-shifting systemsinto the eBike system. The eShift components are electric-ally connected to the drive unit by the manufacturer. Theseparate operating instructions describe how to operate theelectronic gear-shifting systems.

Setting the assistance levelYou can set the level at which the eBike drive assists youwhile pedalling on the on-board computer. The assistancelevel can be changed at any time, even while cycling.Note: In some models, the assistance level may be presetand cannot be changed. There may also be fewer assistancelevels available than stated here.The following assistance levels are available as a maximum:– OFF: Motor assistance is switched off. The eBike can just

be moved by pedalling, as with a normal bicycle. Thepush assistance cannot be activated at this assistancelevel.

– ECO: Effective assistance with maximum efficiency, formaximum range

– TOUR: Steady assistance, long range for touring– SPORT/eMTB:

SPORT: Powerful assistance, for mountain biking andcycling in urban trafficeMTB: Optimum assistance whatever the terrain, rapidacceleration when starting from a standstill, improved dy-namics and top performance (eMTB only available incombination with the drive units BDU250P CX, BDU365,BDU450 CX and BDU480 CX. A software update may berequired.)

– TURBO: Maximum assistance even at high pedallingspeeds, for sport cycling

The requested motor output appears on the display of theon-board computer. The maximum motor output depends onthe selected assistance level.

Switching bicycle lights on/offOn the model where the bike lights are powered by the eBikesystem, the front light and taillight can be switched on andoff at the same time via the on-board computer.

Notes on cycling with the eBikesystemWhen does the eBike drive work?The eBike drive assists your cycling only when you are ped-alling. If you do not pedal, the assistance will not work. Themotor output always depends on the pedalling force you ap-ply.If you apply less force, you will receive less assistance than ifyou apply a lot of force. This applies irrespective of the as-sistance level.The eBike drive automatically switches off at speeds over24 km/h. When the speed falls below 24 km/h, the driveautomatically becomes available again.An exception applies to the push assistance function, inwhich the eBike can be pushed at low speed without ped-alling. The pedals may rotate when the push assistance is inuse.You can also use the eBike as a normal bicycle without as-sistance at any time, either by switching off the eBike systemor by setting the assistance level to OFF. The same applieswhen the battery is drained.

Interaction between the eBike system and gear-shiftingThe gear-shifting should be used with an eBike drive in thesame way as with a normal bicycle (observe the operating in-structions of your eBike on this point).Irrespective of the type of gear-shifting, it is advisable tobriefly stop pedalling when changing gear. This will facilitatethe gear change and reduce wear on the powertrain.By selecting the correct gear, you can increase your speedand range while applying the same amount of force.

Gaining initial experienceWe recommend that you gain initial experience with theeBike away from busy roads.Test the various assistance levels, beginning with the lowestlevel. As soon as you feel confident, you can ride your eBikein traffic like any other bicycle.Test the range of your eBike in different conditions beforeplanning longer and more demanding trips.

Influences on rangeThe range is affected by a number of factors, such as:– Assistance level– Speed– Gear shifting behaviour– Tyre type and tyre pressure– Age and condition of the battery

– Route profile (gradients) and conditions (road surface)– Headwind and ambient temperature– Weight of eBike, rider and luggageFor this reason, it is not possible to predict the range accur-ately before and during a trip. However, as a general rule:– With the same assistance level on the eBike drive: The

less energy you need to exert in order to reach a certainspeed (e.g. by changing gears optimally), the less energythe eBike drive will consume and the higher the range perbattery charge will be.

– The higher the selected assistance level under otherwiseconstant conditions, the smaller the range will be.

Taking care of your eBikePlease observe the operating and storage temperatures ofthe eBike components. Protect the drive unit, on-board com-puter and battery against extreme temperatures (e.g. fromintense sunlight without adequate ventilation). Extreme tem-peratures can cause the components (especially the battery)to become damaged.Have your eBike system checked by an expert at least once ayear (including mechanical parts, up-to-dateness of systemsoftware).Please have your eBike serviced and repaired by an author-ised bicycle dealer.

Maintenance and servicingMaintenance and cleaningWhen changing the bulbs, ensure that they are compatiblewith the Bosch eBike system (ask your bicycle dealer) andare suitable for the specified voltage. Bulbs must only be re-placed with bulbs of the same voltage.Do not immerse any components, including the drive unit, inwater or clean them with pressurised water.Have your eBike system checked by an expert at least once ayear (including mechanical parts, up-to-dateness of systemsoftware).Please have your eBike serviced and repaired by an author-ised bicycle dealer.

u 押し歩きアシストがオンになると、ペダルも一緒に回転することがあります。押し歩きアシストが作動したら、回転しているペダルから脚が十分離れていることを確認してください。けがをするおそれがあります。

u 走行後のドライブユニットのハウジングにむき出しの手や足が触れないようにしてください。低速・高トルクで走り続けたり、山の中や負荷をかけた状態で走行するといった極端な条件下

では、ハウジングが非常に高温になる可能性があります。ドライブユニットのハウジングの温度は以下の要因の影響を受けます。– 周囲温度– 走行経路（コース／傾斜）– 走行時間– アシストモード– ユーザーの走り方（本人のパフォーマンス）– 総重量（ユーザー、自転車、荷物）– ドライブユニットのモーターカバー– 自転車フレームの放熱特性– ドライブユニットのタイプとシフト方法

u お客様がお買い求めになられた電動アシスト自転車のメーカーが指定するボッシュ純正バッテリーを必ずご使用ください。それ以外のバッテリーを使用すると、けがや火災につながるおそれがあります。認定品以外のバッテリーを使用した場合、ボッシュは一切責任を負いません。また、保証も適用されません。

u 電動アシスト自転車システムを改造したり、システムのパフォーマンスを向上させる可能性のある他の製品を取り付けたりしないでください。こうした改造を行うと、総じてシステムの寿命は短くなり、ドライブユニットや自転車に損傷を与える危険性があります。また、お求めになった自転車に対する保証の請求権が失われるリスクもあります。さらに、システムを不適切に取り扱うことはお客様自身の安全と他の道路利用者の安全を危険にさらし、改ざんに起因する事故が発生した場合の個人的な賠償責任費用が高額になり、刑事訴追のおそれもあります。

山の中を走行したり、かなりの荷物を載せて低速で走行するといった極端な条件下では、ドライブユニットの部品が60°C以上に達してしまう場合があります。

u 電動アシスト自転車の登録や使用に関する国内法規を順守してください。

u お使いの電動アシスト自転車の取扱説明書に記載されている安全上の注意事項と指示にすべて目を通し、必ず順守してください。

データの保護について

用途

ドライブユニットは専ら電動アシスト自転車を駆動するためのものであり、他の用途には使用できません。

本書に記載された機能のほか、不具合の修正や機能の拡充のためにソフトウェアが更新される場合があります。

各部の名称

本取扱説明書に記載されている内容は、電動アシスト自転車の仕様に応じて実際の装備と異なる場合があります。

使い方

バッテリーの脱着

電動アシスト自転車用バッテリーを脱着する取り外す際には、バッテリーの取扱説明書を良くお読みください。

スピードセンサーをチェックする（図Aを参照）

スピードセンサー(2)と付属のスポークマグネット(3)は、スポークマグネットが車輪の1回転で少なくとも5mm～17mmの間隔でスピードセンサーを通過するように取り付ける必要があります。

注意事項：スピードセンサー(2)とスポークマグネット(3)との間隔が狭すぎる、あるいは広すぎたり、スピードセンサー(2)が正しく接続されていないと、速度が表示されず、電動アシスト自転車のドライブユニットは緊急モードで動作します。この場合、スポークマグネット(3)のネジを緩め、スポークマグネットがスピードセンサーに付けられたマークに沿って正しい間隔で通過するようスポークに固定してください。それでもタコメーターに速度が表示されない場合は、自転車の販売店にお問い合わせください。

要件

電動アシスト自転車システムを起動するためには、下記の要件が満たされている必要があります。– 十分に充電されたバッテリーが挿入されている

（バッテリーの取扱説明書を参照）。

– ボードコンピューターが正しくホルダーに挿入されている（ボードコンピューターの取扱説明書を参照）。

– スピードセンサーが正しく接続されている(参照„スピードセンサーをチェックする（図Aを参照）“, ページ 日本語 – 2)。

電動アシスト自転車のオン／オフ

電動アシスト自転車は以下の方法でオンになります。– サイクルコンピューターがオンの状態で、ホル

ダーに装着すると、電動アシスト自転車は自動的にオンになります。

– サイクルコンピューターとバッテリーを電動アシスト自転車に装着した状態で、サイクルコンピューターのON/OFFスイッチを1回短く押します。

– サイクルコンピューターを装着した状態で、電動アシスト自転車用バッテリーのON/OFFスイッチを押します（自動車メーカー固有の搭載方法では、バッテリーのON/OFFスイッチを操作できない場合があります。詳しくはバッテリーの取扱説明書を参照してください）。

ペダルを踏むと、モーターはすぐに作動します（押し歩き補助がオフの場合、押し歩きアシストのオン／オフ）。モーターの出力は、サイクルコンピューターで設定したアシストモードによって異なります。

通常モード時にペダルを漕ぐのを止めるか、または速度が24 km/hに達すると、すぐにモーターによるアシストが停止します。改めてペダルを踏んだり、速度が24 km/hを下回ると、モーターは再び自動的に作動します。

電動アシスト自転車は以下の方法でオフになります。– サイクルコンピューターのON/OFFスイッチを押

します。

– 電動アシスト自転車のバッテリーをON/OFFスイッチでオフにします（自転車メーカーのソリューションによってはバッテリーのON/OFFスイッチにアクセスできない場合があります。バッテリーの取扱説明書を参照してください）。

– ホルダーからサイクルコンピューターを取り外します。

電動アシスト自転車を約10分間動かさず、同時にサイクルコンピューターのスイッチを何も操作しないと、電動アシスト自転車は省エネのために自動的にオフになります。

eShift（別売）

eShiftは、電子変速システムを電動アシスト自転車に統合したものです。eShiftのコンポーネントは、メーカーによってドライブユニットに電気的に接続されています。電子変速システムの操作方法は、ボードコンピューターの取扱説明書に記載されています。

アシストモードの設定

ボードコンピューターで、ペダリング中に電動アシスト自転車をどの程度サポートするかを設定することができます。サポートレベルは、走行中でもいつでも変更することができます。

注意事項：サポートレベルがプリセットされ、変更できない仕様もあります。また、ここに列挙されているレベルより低いサポートレベルが選択できる場合もあります。

以下のサポートレベルを使用することができます（すべて利用できる場合）。– OFF：モーターによるサポートは停止し、電動ア

シスト自転車を通常の自転車と同じようにペダルをこいで操作します。このサポートレベルでは、押し歩きアシストをオンにすることはできません。

– ECO：最高の効率でサポートします（走行距離をできるだけ伸ばしたい人向け）。

– TOUR：安定したパワーでサポートします（長距離走行向け）。

– SPORT/eMTB:SPORT：パワフルにサポートします（起伏のあるコースをスポーティに走る場合や市街地走行向け）。eMTB：地形に合わせて最適にサポートします（スポーティな発進、ダイナミクスの向上、最大限のパフォーマンスを実現。 eMTBはドライブユニットBDU250P CX、BDU365、BDU450 CX、BDU480 CXとの組み合わせでのみ使用可能。状況に応じてソフトウェアのアップデートが必要）。

– TURBO：ペダリング頻度が高くなるまで最大限にサポートします（スポーティな走行向け）。

呼び出したモーター出力はボードコンピューターのディスプレイに表示されます。最大モーター出力は選択したサポートレベルによって異なります。

自転車ライトの点灯／消灯

電動アシスト自転車システムによって給電される仕様では、ボードコンピューターを介してヘッドライトとテールライトを同時に点灯／消灯することができます。

電動アシスト自転車で走行する際の注意事項

電動アシスト自転車のドライブユニットはいつ作動しますか？

電動アシスト自転車は走行中、ペダルをこいでいる限りサポートされます。つまり、ペダルをこがないとサポートされません。モーターの出力は常にペダルをこぐ力によって変わります。

ペダルをこぐ力が小さいと、大きな力をかけた場合よりもサポート力が弱くなります。このことは、サポートレベルとは関係なく適用されます。

電動アシスト自転車のドライブユニットは、速度が24 km/hを超えると自動的にオフになります。速度が24 km/hを下回ると、ドライブユニットは自動的に再び使用可能な状態になります。

例外は、電動アシスト自転車をペダルをこがずに低速で押し歩くことができる押し歩きアシスト機能を使用した場合です。押し歩きアシストを使用すると、ペダルも一緒に回ることがあります。
