■ Measures for improving noise resistancePay attention to the following points to improve noise resistance.• Do not mount the DT-500/80/80A inside industrial control panels in which high-voltage devices

are also located.• Mount the DT-500/80/80A as far away as possible from power lines.• Mount the DT-500/80/80A as far away as possible when it must be mounted next to devices

(e.g. solenoids, choppers, etc.) that generate strong magnetic and electrical fields.• Do not include the DT-500/80/80A I/O leads in the same ducts as power lines and

highvoltage lines. Wire the I/O leads in separate ducts. Noise from power lines andhighvoltage lines may cause malfunction on the DT-500/80/80A.

• On the DT-500/80/80A that is provided with an earth terminal, provide a class D earth(maximum resistance of 100 Ohms).

■ Installation orientation

Inserting BatteryInserting BATTERY1

BATTERY1 is used for backing up the calendar timer and the content of SRAM. Use OP-42139 forBATTERY1.

■ BATTERY1 insertion procedure

The following describes the procedure for inserting BATTERY1.

The DT-500 is shipped with BATTERY1 already inserted.

1 Open the BATTERY1 cover on the rear of the

DT-500 body.

2 Attach the battery plug to the socket.

When replacing batteries, first remove the old batteriesfrom the socket.

• Pay attention to the direction of the plug and socket.• When batteries are replaced, the SRAM data is cleared. Data stored on the DT-

500 will be cleared when SRAM data is cleared. For this reason, be sure tosave data to Memory Card using the backup function before you replace thebatteries. Also, set the calendar timer again after replacing batteries.

3 Insert the batteries into the DT-500 body, and

close the battery cover.

Inserting BATTERY2

BATTERY2 is for shutdown processing before turning the power OFF. Use DT-B4 for BATTERY2.Whether or not DT-B4 is installed on the DT-500 differs according to how the DT-500 is turned OFF.For details, refer to the 『DT-500/80/80A Hardware Manual (Japanese version only available)』[1-4 Precautions Upon Use.]The DT-500 is shipped without DT-B4 inserted. Buy DT-B4 separately as required.

■ BATTERY2 insertion procedureThe following describes the procedure for inserting BATTERY2.

1 Prepare new batteries as shown

in the figure below.

2 Loosen the two screws on the base of the DT-500 body,

and open the BATTERY2 cover.

3 Attach the new batteries to the socket.

When replacing batteries, first remove the old batteries from the socket.

4 Insert the batteries into the DT-500 body, and close the battery cover.

■ DT-B4 Handling Precautions

When the connector is connected, this product becomes a hazardous product (Class9) inaccordance with United Nations recommendations. For this reason, please consult beforehand withyour carrier regarding packaging for transportation before you transport this product by sea or by air.

■ Cautions when Disposing of DT-B4• Do not dispose of DT-B4 in a non-insulated state with other batteries, or dispose of DT-B4 with objects

having electrically conductive parts (e.g. metal contacts). Doing so might cause ignition or rupture.• When disposing of DT-B4, insulate either or both of the (+) and (-) terminals with insulating tape,

etc, and dispose a group of several of the DT-B4 as "noncombustible trash."

Tighteningtorque0.2 N·m

Insert the batteries into the DT-500so that the Keyence logo can beseen from the operator side.

When this connector is connected, this product becomesa hazardous product (Class9) in accordance with United Nations recommendations.

Power Supply Connection and Grounding

Precautions when wiring

■ Precautions when wiring to the power terminal

Pay attention to the following points when wiring to the power terminal.• Use a twisted lead power cable.

■ Precautions when wiring to I/O devices

Pay attention to the following points when wiring to I/O devices.• Separate input leads from output leads, and wire separately.• I/O signal leads wired nearby power leads may be influenced by high voltage or large current

causing the DT-500/80/80A to malfunction. Wire power leads at least 100 mm away from I/Osignal leads.

• Wire 24 VDC I/O leads away from 100 VAC or 200 VAC leads.• When wiring using ducts, make sure that the ducts are properly grounded.

■ Grounding precautions (DT-80/80A only)

• Provide a class D earth (maximum resistance of 100 ) individually for each of the devices.• If a separate ground is not possible, ground using a shared grounding point. Note, however, that

in this case the leads must be of the same length.
