    Corrosion Protection

An important eement in the ong

term durabiity of tie rod instaation is

    corrosion protection. For DSIsGEWI

    Stee andGEWIPlus systems, various

    corrosion protection systems are

    avaiabe, depending on site conditions

    and degree of eposure.

    Possibe soutions are:

    n Sacrificia corrosion in accor-

dance with EN 14199, EAU or other

    specifications. See aso tabe beow

sheet pie wa to a oad distributing

    waing.

The required ength of the waing bots

depends on the height of the sheet pie

profie, the width of the waing, the pate

    thicness and the nut ength.

To aign sheet pie was, waing bots can

    aso be prestressed.

DYWIDAG Tie Rods with Strand Tendons

Horizonta strand tendons offer an a-

ternative to common bar tie rods. These

    strand tendons have been deveoped

for use in prestressed concrete and can

aso be used for marine appications,

anaogue to their use as unbonded

    post-tensioning system.

n Amost any user-defined engths can

be manufactured, due to storage and

    transport on cois

n High feibiity, thus easy instaation

aso under imited wor space and no

danger of damage due to settements

n Maimum utiization of the stee,

    due to user defined differentiation

    between 2 and 37 strands

    n Direct infuence on possibe

    deformations due to high possibe

    prestressing oads

    Mechanical properties

There are four different types of strands which can be used for the horizonta strand tendons for marine appications.

Eampe: a strand tendon with 37 strands 0.62, St1860, has an utimate oad of 10,323 N.

    Corrosion protection

To ensure the durabiity of tie rods

with horizonta strand tendons, they have

to be protected against corrosion. The

singe strands are greased and sheathed

    individuay.

After stressing of the horizonta strand

tendons, the tendons are injected with

cement grout as with permanent strand

anchors in accordance with EN 1537.

A eposed stee parts of the rie rod

head are coated in accordance with

    ISO 12944-5.

    Features and advantages:

    n Very high stee grades,

    thus ow weight

    n We proven for prestressed

    concrete for decades
