We had a look around the displays which we found very interesting. The displays had lots of exciting items for us to look at such as tools the people used in the stone age, flints and pots that the people gave to the water Gods as gifts and can you believe they even had a mammoth’s tooth! We also had the chance to touch and feel some old things such as an antler, animal skin and some stone age pottery pots which they learned how to make in the Neolithic era. We also really enjoyed watching five different puppet shows which taught us about life in the different prehistoric eras - Paleothic, Mesolithic, Neolithic, Bronze Age and the Iron Age. I liked it when we got to touch the old items (Maria Felix, Class 3G). My favourite was the Iron Age puppet show. It was a bit scary but very interesting (Victor Bertheuil, Class 3G). Year 6 trip to Sky Academy

Recently, Year 6 went to Sky Academy which we enjoyed very much- it was an outstanding experience for all pupils! Each class was spilt into 4 groups and learnt how to work in TV business e.g. we learnt how to write a script.

We all got lanyards which indicated our roles and sat down in our groups to talk about each of our roles. Some students were reporters, eyewitnesses, editors, directors, camera operators, experts and producers but we would have to work together, be creative and problem-solve.

One team was in charge of preparing the introduction to the news report, another group created the eyewitness report in their studio, the third created the expert report and the fourth group produced an on-location report from their studio.

We went into our studios to prepare our scripts. The people who would be on-screen went to the dressing rooms to get changed into their costumes, which the people behind the cameras chose. As we set off to work, we got to choose the background and we got to act like we were actually on set.

Now, you are probably asking yourself what was the report about. Before we went to Sky, we researched information about cyber-bullying (a very serious matter). We used the information we had researched through our Digital Literacy lessons to create a news report on what cyber-bullying actually is; what can be done to prevent it and advice on how to respond if we become targets of cyber-bullying. We created very informative news reports which we are very proud of.

After the report we got to have fun with the camera, making our own reports. Then we watched our masterpiece put together as one whole report. We said a gigantic “Thank you!” to our teachers and the staff at Sky Academy. We enjoyed it immensely and we will never forget the opportunity we took part in. But it isn’t over yet … We even got a tour of a live news report ground. Afterwards we saw a brand new TV show that was being filmed

live - how exciting that was! Overall, it was our best trip in Year 6 and ever yet. We would definitely recommend this fantastic trip. We

were exhausted by the day’s hard work but it was absolutely worth it.

Royal Academy of Art

On Wednesday we went to the Royal Academy of Art. We went there to see the exhibition of Jasper John, an American artist, and we

learnt a lot about him. His exhibition was called, Jasper Johns: ‘Something Resembling Truth’ . We went as part of our Art lessons with Mrs

Rauh. He usually draws flags, maps, targets, numbers and light bulbs. We walked all around the exhibition and then we had our own

Jasper Johns master class in the royal academy art room. We were so lucky we all got to produce our own Jasper John artwork. My

favourite part of the day was when I saw the American flag. We really loved the trip!

British Museum

Last week Year 4 went to the British Museum. The

Museum has the largest collection of Egyptian objects

outside Egypt. These include the Rosetta Stone, a 5,000

year old sand-dried mummy, wall paintings from

Nebamun’s tomb and sculptures of Ramesses II. We have

been learning about the Ancient Egyptians in class so it was amazing to see these things in real

life. When we got to the museum we divided into groups and we went around the exhibit, it was very exciting! We learnt a more about the

daily life of an Egyptian and we watched some little video clips to help us understand a little bit more about Ancient Egypt.

Living Library

On Thursday 15th November our class went on a short trip to St Paul's Girls School to learn and experience new things as part of their Living Library Workshop. Our class had a variety of activities to choose from. We did the activities for 15 minutes with one of the St Paul's Students who taught and helped us. I learnt how to play chess and how to write my name in hieroglyphics. My favourite part of the trip was when we learnt most of the names of the Egyptian Gods. We had a marvellous time there having fun and exploring and I hope to go back there again.

CHEL-SKI Before going to Chel-Ski I felt very scared because it was the first time I had skied. But the instructors were very kind and in the end I got the hang of it. I can now easily move to the left and right with my skis and go up and down the slope. By Enos I had skied a little bit before last year. I think this year I have improved my confidence and my turning. By Aidan We think Chel-ski is a lot of fun because the teachers are very supportive and help people learn to ski very easily. We also think Chel-ski is great fun because the teachers let us play “it” on the slope. If you fall down, the teachers will stop the slope immediately just by pressing a button and help you back up again! We recommend it – 10 out of 10!

By Enos Bulla and Aidan Line, Year 4.

Football Update

So far this season, both football teams have played well. The boys have won 3 out of 3 games while the girls have drawn 2 out of 2. The boys started off with a 6-1 win against Melcombe A team while the girls drew 3-3 after going 3-0 up. Our second match was against Queens Manor. The boys won 3-1 in a tight game but we managed to edge a win, whereas the girls drew 0-0 in a nail-biting match. Finally, the boys won 9-0 against Melcombe B team. Dance

Drama

On Tuesday 21st November we were very lucky because a drama teacher visited our school. We played lots of games about being under the sea. My favourite game was when the drama teacher was the character of a fierce monster under the sea and we had to become statues under the sea so that he couldn’t see us. Every time he went away we moved places and then became statues again when he came back. He got very confused because we had moved. We also learnt a song about sea creatures. We had a lot of fun and we all got a sticker at the end. By Leopold Marre, Class 2G

Reception have been enjoying our weekly dance sessions with Miss Anna. We have been learning a sequence of dances related to our class topic "Toys" - we have loved being teddy bears, soldiers and pilots! We look forward to performing it for other classes in a few weeks.
