STANDARD NOTES
GENERAL NOTES
G1. THESE DRAWINGS SHALL BE READ IN CONJUNCTION WITH ALL ARCHITECTURAL AND OTHERCONSULTANTS DRAWINGS AND SPECIFICATIONS AND WITH SUCH OTHER WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONSAS MAY BE ISSUED DURING THE COURSE OF THE CONTRACT.
G2. ALL DIMENSIONS AND LEVELS RELEVANT TO SETTING OUT AND OFF-SITE WORK SHALL BE VERIFIEDBY THE CONTRACTOR BEFORE CONSTRUCTION AND FABRICATION IS COMMENCED. THE ENGINEER'SDRAWINGS ARE NOT TO BE SCALED. NO RESPONSIBILITY WILL BE TAKEN BY THE ENGINEER FORDIMENSIONS OBTAINED BY SCALING THE DRAWINGS.
G3 UNLESS STATED OTHERWISE:
ALL DIMENSIONS ARE IN MILLIMETRESALL LEVELS ARE TO AUSTRALIAN HEIGHT DATUM.ALL CO-ORDINATES ARE TO AUSTRALIAN MAPPING GRID.
G4. DURING CONSTRUCTION THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAINTAINING THESTRUCTURE IN A STABLE CONDITION AND ENSURING NO PART SHALL BE OVERSTRESSED UNDERCONSTRUCTION ACTIVITIES. ALL TEMPORARY PROPPING AND BRACING NECESSARY, INCLUDINGANY TEMPORARY SUPPORT FOR EXCAVATIONS, SHALL BE THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY.
G5. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ENGAGE A QUALIFIED STRUCTURAL ENGINEER WHO IS A REGISTERED BUILDING PRACTITIONER WITH EXPERIENCE IN TEMPORARY WORKS TO DESIGN AND REVIEW ALL CONSTRUCTION PROCEDURES AND TO PROVIDE TEMPORARY WORKS DETAILS AS REQUIRED TO ENSURE THE STRUCTURE IS MAINTAINED IN A STABLE CONDITION AT ALL TIMES DURING CONSTRUCTION. THE ENGINEER IS TO PROVIDE CERTIFIED COMPUTATIONS, CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE - DESIGN AND CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE - INSPECTION FOR THE SAME. THE COSTOF ALL TEMPORARY WORKS AND TEMPORARY WORKS DESIGN SHALL BE INCLUDED IN THE TENDERER'S PRICE.
G6. THE STRUCTURE HAS BEEN DESIGNED FOR THE IN-SERVICE LOADS ACTING WHEN THE STRUCTUREIS COMPLETE ONLY. LOADS OR ACTIONS DUE TO CONSTRUCTION AND INSTALLATIONMETHODOLOGIES AND/OR EQUIPMENT HAVE NOT BEEN CONSIDERED UNLESS CLEARLY STATEDOTHERWISE.
G7 THE APPROVAL OF A SUBSTITUTION SHALL BE SOUGHT FROM THE SUPERINTENDENT BUT IS NOT ANAUTHORISATION FOR A COST VARIATION. ALL COST VARIATIONS INVOLVED MUST BE AGREED WITHTHE SUPERINTENDENT BEFORE THE WORK COMMENCES.
G8 ANY DISCREPANCIES ON THE DRAWINGS, OR BETWEEN THE DRAWINGS AND/OR THE SPECIFICATIONS AND/OR THE SPECIFIED AUSTRALIAN STANDARDS SHALL BE REFERRED TO THE ENGINEER AND A WRITTEN INSTRUCTION RECEIVED BY THE SUPERINTENDENT PRIOR TO PROCEEDING WITH THE WORK.
G9 THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DELIVERY, FABRICATION, CONSTRUCTION ANDERECTION OF ALL ELEMENTS OF THE STRUCTURE.
G10 THE STRUCTURAL DRAWINGS DO NOT SHOW ALL DETAILS OF FIXTURES, INSERTS, SLEEVES,OPENINGS, ETC. REQUIRED BY THE VARIOUS TRADES. ALL SUCH DETAILS, INCLUDING OPENINGSFOR CONSTRUCTION PURPOSES, MUST BE APPROVED BY THE ENGINEER BEFORE PROCEEDINGWITH CONSTRUCTION. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ALLOW FOR ADDITIONAL SUPPORT MEMBERSWHERE REQUIRED.
G11 ANY DAMAGED STRUCTURAL MATERIAL SHALL BE REPAIRED OR REPLACED TO THE ENGINEERSSATISFACTION ENSURING THE ORIGINAL DURABILITY STRENGTH AND SERVICEABILITYCHARACTERISTICS ARE MAINTAINED.
G12 SHOULD ADDITIONAL SERVICES OR CHANGES TO THE STRUCTURAL DOCUMENTATION BEREQUESTED BY THE CONTRACTOR, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALLASSOCIATED CONSULTANT FEES AND EXPENSES.
G13 THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ALLOW FOR THE PREPARATION AND COST OF DETAILED SHOP DRAWINGS.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CHECK AND COORDINATE THE SHOP DRAWINGS WITH ALL TRADES, OTHERCONSULTANT DOCUMENTS AND SITE CONDITIONS.
G14 THE STRUCTURAL ENGINEER DOES NOT PROVIDE "AS BUILT" DRAWINGS FOR THE STRUCTURE THATREFLECT THE AS BUILT CONDITIONS AT THE COMPLETION OF CONSTRUCTION. SHOULD THECONTRACTOR REQUEST ASSISTANCE FROM THE STRUCTURAL ENGINEER FOR PRODUCTION OF "ASBUILT" DRAWINGS THEY SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL ASSOCIATED CONSULTANT FEES ANDEXPENSES.
G15 ALL PROPS AND FORMWORK FOR FLOOR BEAMS AND SLABS SHALL BE REMOVED BEFORE CONSTRUCTION OF ANY MASONRY WALLS OR PARTITIONS ON THE FLOOR.
G16 ALL NON LOAD-BEARING WALLS SHALL BE KEPT 20mm CLEAR OF THE UNDERSIDE OF SLABS AND BEAMS UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE. THE TOP END OF ALL NON LOAD-BEARING WALLS ARE TO BE ADEQUATELY LATERALLY RESTRAINED.
G17 THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ENGAGE A GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEER FOR THE PURPOSE OF CERTIFYINGTHE REQUIRED GROUND CONDITIONS AS NOMINATED IN THE DOCUMENTS.
G18 THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ENGAGE AN INDEPENDENT WELDING INSPECTION AND SITE SUPERVISIONSERVICE TO CARRY OUT ALL STEELWORK TESTING AND EXAMINATIONS REQUIRED BY AUSTRALIANSTANDARDS. MINIMUM STEELEXAMINATIONS REQUIRED BY THIS CONTRACT ARE :
- 100% VISUAL WELD INSPECTION- 100% RADIOGRAPHIC OR ULTRASONIC WELD INSPECTIONS- 100% BOLT TIGHTENING INSPECTION AFTER ERECTION
G19 PRIOR TO COMMENCING SITE WORKS, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL CONFIRM AND LOCATE ALLEXISTING STRUCTURES, SERVICES AND OTHER ASSETS THAT MAY BE AFFECTED BY THE WORKS.THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SEEK DIRECTION FROM THE ENGINEER SHOULD ANY EXISTINGSTRUCTURES, SERVICES OR ASSETS BE DIFFERENT TO THOSE SHOWN ON THE CONSULTANTSDOCUMENTS.
G20 SHOULD THE BUILDER/CONTRACTOR REQUIRE CREO CONSULTANTS TO PARTICIPATE IN AN ONLINECENTRALISED DATA MANAGEMENT SYSTEM (IE. ACONEX, PROJECTWEB OR PROJECT CENTRE OR SIMILAR), THE BUILDER/CONTRACTOR SHALL ALLOW TO PAY ALL ASSOCIATED PARTICIPATION FEESREQUIRED BY THE SERVICE OPERATOR IN THEIR TENDER PRICE. THE BUILDER/CONTRACTOR SHALLNOTIFY CREO CONSULTANTS IN WRITING OF THIS REQUIREMENT DURING TENDERING OF THE PROJECT.
WITHIN THREE (3) MONTHS OF PRACTICAL COMPLETION OF THE PROJECT, THE BUILDER/CONTRACTOR SHALL FURNISH FREE OF CHARGE TO CREO CONSULTANTS A COMPLETE RECORD OF ALL DATA THAT CREO CONSULTANTS WERE ABLE TO ACCESS ON THE SYSTEM DURINGTHE PROJECT. SUCH DATA SHALL BE PROVIDED IN A COMMON READABLE AND SEARCHABLE FORMATAND BE RECORDED ON A CD, DVD, PORTABLE USB DRIVE OR SIMILAR MEDIA.

STRUCTURAL STEELWORK NOTES
S1 ALL WORKMANSHIP, MATERIALS AND FABRICATION SHALL BE IN ACCORDANCE WITH AS4100 STEELSTRUCTURES AND AS1538 COLD-FORMED STEEL STRUCTURES. ALL STEEL HOLLOW SECTIONSSHALL BE GRADE 350 IN ACCORDANCE WITH AS1163. ALL PRESSED METAL PURLINS AND GIRTSSHALL BE GRADE 450 IN ACCORDANCE WITH AS 1538.
S2 WELDING SHALL BE PERFORMED BY A QUALIFIED OPERATOR IN ACCORDANCE WITH AS1554STRUCTURAL STEEL WELDING.
S3 BOLTS DESIGNATED 4.6/S SHALL BE COMMERCIAL BOLTS TO AS1111 AND AS1112 TIGHTENED TO ASNUG TIGHT FIT. BOLTS DESIGNATED 8.8/S SHALL BE HIGH STRENGTH STEEL BOLTS TO AS1252TIGHTENED TO A SNUG TIGHT FIT. BOLTS DESIGNATED 8.8/TF OR 8.8/TB SHALL BE HIGH STRENGTHSTEEL BOLTS TO AS1252, FULLY TENSIONED IN ACCORDANCE WITH AS4100.
S4 THE ENDS OF ALL HOLLOW SECTIONS SHALL BE SEALED WITH 6MM THICK PLATE AND CONTINUOUSFILLET WELD UNLESS STATED OTHERWISE.
S5 BEFORE FABRICATION IS COMMENCED THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT COPIES OF THE SHOPDRAWINGS TO THE ENGINEER FOR REVIEW. REVIEW DOES NOT INCLUDE CHECKING OFDIMENSIONS.
S6 ALL EXPOSED STRUCTURAL STEEL SHALL BE HOT DIP GALVANISED AND ALL INTERNAL STRUCTURALSTEEL SHALL BE SHOP PRIMED UNLESS OTHERWISE SPECIFIED BY THE ARCHITECT. REFER ALSO TOSPECIFICATIONS.
S7 UNLESS STATED OTHERWISE :A. ALL CLEATS, GUSSETS AND END PLATES SHALL BE 10mm THICK.B. WELDING ELECTRODE SHALL BE E49XX.C. ALL FILLET WELDS SHALL BE 6mm CONTINUOUSD. S10 COLUMNS AND MULLIONS SHALL HAVE THEIR BASE PLATES FULLY GROUTED IN ACCORDANCE WITHTHE SPECIFICATIONS AFTER PLUMBING AND LEVELLING ON STEEL PACKERS.
S11 ALL RAFTERS AND BEAMS OVER 6000mm IN LENGTH SHALL BE CAMBERED 5mm FOR EVERY 2000mmOF LENGTH UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE ON THE DRAWINGS.
S12 THE CONTRACTOR SHALL SUBMIT STEEL SHOP DRAWINGS TO THE ENGINEER FOR REVIEW PRIOR TOCOMMENCEMENT OF ANY FABRICATION. THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR LAYOUTAND MEMBER DIMENSIONS.
S13 THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ENSURING THAT THE STEELWORK IS NOT DAMAGEDOR DISTORTED DURING THE FABRICATION OR GALVANISING PROCESSES.
S14 ALLOW ALL ROOF BEAMS TO BE FLY BRACED AT 5000 CTS UNLESS NOTED OTHERWISE
S15 REFER TO ARCHITECTS DRAWINGS FOR ANY ADDITIONAL INCIDENTAL AND SECONDARY STEELWORKREQUIRED NOT SHOWN ON STRUCTURAL DRAWINGS.
S16 PROVIDE TRIMMERS AS REQUIRED TO SUPPORT THE EDGE OF ALL ROOF SHEETING.
TENDERING NOTES
GT1 ALL ITEMS AND ASSOCIATED COSTS REFERRED TO IN THE DOCUMENTS, SPECIFICATION AND OTHERCONSULTANT DOCUMENTS SHALL FORM PART OF THE CONTRACTOR'S TENDER PRICE, UNLESSNOTED OTHERWISE. ALL MATERIALS ARE TO BE SUPPLIED BY THE CONTRACTOR INCLUDINGWASTAGE AND OVER-SUPPLY CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS.
GT2 THE CONTRACTOR SHALL EXAMINE THE CONTRACT DOCUMENTS MADE AVAILABLE FOR THEPURPOSES OF TENDERING, AND SHALL EXAMINE ALL INFORMATION RELEVANT TO THE RISKS,CONTINGENCIES AND OTHER CIRCUMSTANCES WHICH COULD AFFECT THE COST OF THE WORKS.
GT3 IT SHALL BE THE CONTRACTOR'S RESPONSIBILITY TO EXAMINE THE SITE BEFORE TENDERING ANDFULLY INFORM THEMSELVES OF ALL EXISTING CONDITIONS. CLAIMS ARISING FROM FAILURE TO TAKETHIS PRECAUTION WILL BE BORNE BY THE CONTRACTOR. THE COST OF CRANAGE, TEMPORARYWORKS OR ACCESS RAMP CONSTRUCTION AND SUBSEQUENT REMOVAL, NECESSARY TOCONSTRUCT THE PROJECT, SHALL BE ALLOWED FOR BY THE CONTRACTOR IN THEIR TENDER.
GT4 DURING TENDERING, ANY DISCREPANCY BETWEEN THE DOCUMENTS, SPECIFICATIONS AND OTHERCONSULTANT DOCUMENTS SHALL BE REFERRED TO THE ENGINEER FOR CLARIFICATION.OTHERWISE, THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ASSUME THE GREATER CRITERIA IN TERMS OF COST ANDPROGRAMME IN THE ABSENCE OF OTHER INSTRUCTIONS.
GT5 DURING TENDERING, THE BUILDER SHALL MAKE ADDITIONAL ALLOWANCE FOR ALL COSTSASSOCIATED WITH SECONDARY STEELWORK INDICATED ON OTHER CONSULTANT DRAWINGS,REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE OTHER CONSULTANT REFERS TO THE ENGINEERS DRAWING. REFERTO ARCHITECTURAL DRAWINGS FOR ALL OTHER SECONDARY STRUCTURAL FRAMING (NON-BASEBUILDING RELATED) SUCH AS, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, CEILING FRAME, BALUSTRADES,ARCHITECTURAL FEATURES, NON-STRUCTURAL WALL FRAMES, FAÇADE FRAMING AND OPERABLEWALL SUPPORTS ETC. WHERE NOT DOCUMENTED, THE BUILDER SHALL MAKE ADEQUATEALLOWANCE.
GT6 ALL DRAWINGS ARE CURRENTLY BEING COORDINATED WITH ARCHITECT AND SERVICES ENGINEER.BUILDER SHALL MAKE ALLOWANCE WHERE NECESSARY OR RAISE QUERIES FOR CLARIFICATION.
GT7 SERVICES PENETRATIONS TO BE COORDINATED WITH SERVICES ENGINEER. WHERE RELOCATION ISNOT POSSIBLE, BUILDER SHALL MAKE ALLOWANCE FOR STRUCTURAL REDESIGN AS DEEMEDNECESSARY.
GT8 REFER TO ARCHITECT FOR ALL ARCHITECTURAL FACADE TREATMENT.
GT9 ANY DISCREPANCY ON THE DRAWINGS OR BETWEEN THE DRAWINGS AND/OR THE SPECIFICATIONAND/OR THE SPECIFIED SAA STANDARD SHALL BE REFERRED TO THE SUPERINTENDENT AND AWRITTEN INSTRUCTION RECEIVED PRIOR TO PROCEEDING WITH THE WORK. DURING TENDERINGTHE TENDER SHALL ASSUME THE LARGER/GREATER CRITERIA IN TERMS OF COST IN THE ABSENCEOF OTHER INSTRUCTIONS.

GT11 THE DOCUMENTED DESIGN CONSTITUTES THE MAIN STRUCTURAL FRAMING BUT DOES NOT INCLUDEA FULL SCOPE OF SECONDARY STEEL TO SUPPORT FACADE CLADDING, HANDRAILS, INTERNALPARTITION WALLS, ETC.
GT12 THESE DRAWINGS SHOW TYPICAL CONNECTION DETAILS ONLY. THE SHOP DRAFTER IS REQUIRED TODEVELOP ALL CONNECTION DETAILS NOT SPECIFICALLY SHOWN. THE CONTRACTOR IS REQUIRED TOPRICE FOR ALL ASSOCIATED ENGINEERING DESIGN AND DETAILING FOR CONNECTIONS NOTSPECIFICALLY SHOWN.
GT13 THE STRUCTURAL DRAWINGS DO NOT SHOW ALL DETAILS OF FIXTURES, INSERTS, SLEEVES,OPENINGS, ETC. REQUIRED BY THE VARIOUS TRADES. ALL SUCH DETAILS, INCLUDING OPENINGS FORCONSTRUCTION PURPOSES, MUST BE APPROVED BY THE SUPERINTENDENT BEFORE PROCEEDINGWITH CONSTRUCTION.
SITE SUPERVISION AND INSPECTION NOTES
SI1 THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ENSURE A SUITABLY QUALIFIED, REGISTERED BUILDING PRACTITIONERCARRIES OUT ALL REQUIRED INSPECTIONS, AS SPECIFIED BY THE BUILDING SURVEYOR, TO ENABLETHE BUILDING SURVEYOR TO PROVIDE A CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE - CONSTRUCTION AT THECONCLUSION OF THE WORKS.
SI2 CREO CONSULTANTS HAVE ALLOWED FOR STRUCTURAL INSPECTIONS TO SATISFY OURPROFESSIONAL OBLIGATIONS IN ASSISTING THE CONTRACTOR TO FOLLOW THE DESIGN INTENT OFOUR DOCUMENTS BUT NOT NECESSARILY TO INSPECT ALL ELEMENTS.
SI3 THE CONTRACTOR SHALL GIVE A MINIMUM OF TWO (2) WORKING DAYS NOTICE PRIOR TOINSPECTIONS BEING REQUIRED. SCHEDULED INSPECTIONS SHOULD BE CANCELLED A MINIMUM OFFOUR (4) WORKING HOURS PRIOR TO THE SCHEDULED TIME IF WORK WILL NOT BE READY FORINSPECTION.
IF AN AREA OF WORK IS NOT COMPLETED AT THE SCHEDULED TIME OF INSPECTION, OR ISDEFECTIVE AND REQUIRES RE-INSPECTION, THE RE-INSPECTION SHALL BE AT THE CONTRACTORSEXPENSE.
INSPECTION TIMES SHALL BE BETWEEN THE ENGINEER'S OFFICE WORKING HOURS 9AM TO 4PMMONDAY TO FRIDAY. GENERALLY NO INSPECTIONS SHALL BE CARRIED OUT ON SATURDAYS,SUNDAYS OR PUBLIC HOLIDAYS EXCEPT IN EMERGENCY SITUATIONS AND ONLY BY SPECIALBOOKING ARRANGEMENTS (INCLUDING PROVISION FOR ADDITIONAL FEES FOR THE ENGINEER).
SI4 THE CONTRACTOR SHALL ALLOW IN THEIR PROGRAMME A MINIMUM PERIOD OF TEN (10) WORKINGDAYS FROM RECEIPT OF SHOP DRAWINGS BY THE ENGINEER TO REVIEW AND RETURN COMMENTS.
UNLESS OTHERWISE ARRANGED, SHOP DRAWINGS SHALL BE SUBMITTED PROGRESSIVELY INPACKAGES (WITH ACCOMPANYING MARKING PLANS) SO AS TO ALLOW THE ENGINEER TO CHECKDRAWINGS IN A TIMELY MANNER.
