User-generated content, or UGC, iscontent created by users, such asmessages, Mii™ characters, images,photos, video, audio, QR Code™patterns, etc.
● Uploaded content may be seen byother users. It may also becopied, modified and redistributedby third parties.Once sent, you cannot deletesuch content or limit its usage, sobe careful.
Exchanging UGC
● Any uploaded content may beremoved without notice. Nintendomay also remove or hide contentwhich is considered to beunsuitable.
● When uploading content orcreating content for upload...- Do not include any information
that can be used to identify youor a third party personally, suchas your or a third party's name,email address, address ortelephone number.

Select ‘Quick Save’ from the ‘Misc.’menu (p. 21) to record yourprogress in a quick save log.♦ There is only one quick save log,

Change the strategies your partymembers use in battle (p. 25). Youcan select a specific strategy foreach party member or command allparty members to follow a singlestrategy by selecting ‘All’.
Allocate skill points that partymembers have earnt by levelling up(p. 26).

24 Battle Commands — 1
This command initiates a strikeagainst the enemy. If a partymember's tactics are set to ‘FollowOrders’, you will be able to choosethe method of attack for him or her.Otherwise the party members will doas they see fit, according to thetactics you've set for each of them.
Attack the enemy using the weaponwith which you're currentlyequipped, or your bare hands.Certain weapons allow you to attackgroups of enemies or all enemieson-screen simultaneously.
Select and cast one of the spellsyou have learnt, either to strike theenemy, or to help a fellow partymember. This consumes MP ofcourse.
Adopt a defensive stance, reducingthe amount of damage you takefrom an attack.
Select and perform one of thecombat abilities you have learnt.Some abilities consume MP.
Select and use one of the items youare carrying. You can also removeand equip weapons and armourusing this command. However, youcannot access items that are in theparty's bag during battle.

26 The Skill System
The skill points allocation screen isdisplayed whenever you earn moreskill points, or when you select ‘SkillPoints’ from the ‘Misc.’ menu.
Skills refer to individual attributes,such as weapon proficiencies anddistinctive characteristics that youand your fellow party members eachpossess five of. Obtain skill points toincrease your skill levels, which willallow you to learn new spells,abilities, and traits that will aid youin combat!
You gain skill points whenever youlevel up. On the skill pointsallocation screen, use to select askill, and to adjust the skill pointsyou'd like to allocate to that skil l.When you're done, press . Becareful, because once you'veconfirmed your allocation, youcannot change your mind andreassign the points differently.♦ You can use to add just
enough points to reach the nextskill level, or to take awaypoints till you reach the minimumneeded for the current orprevious skill level.
♦ The maximum number of pointsyou can allocate to a skillincreases as a character's levelincreases.

27 Alchemise Away!
First select the items you have thatyou want to put into the pot. Itemsyou can currently use as ingredientsare listed in white, and thosealready in the pot are listed inyellow. Press to view anexplanation of the currently selecteditem. Once you've put thingredients in, pre tocommence the alchemy process.
Press to open the alchemy recipebook. Then just select a recipe tostart the alchemy process. If arecipe is listed in red text, it meansyou do not have the necessaryingredients for it at the moment. Inthe list of ingredients, missing onesare listed in grey.

If you pass close to other playerswho have activated StreetPass forthis game on their systems, you willautomatically exchange a postcardwith them. Postcards contain a minionline profile and a photograph ofyour choice. The profile consists ofyour name, the number of hoursyou've spent playing the game, andthe number of StreetPassencounters you've had.♦ Both you and the other player
you pass must have activatedStreetPass.
♦ At some points in the game,StreetPass may be temporarilyunavailable.
1.Select “StreetPass ‘Hot Shots’” onthe ‘Misc.’ menu.
2.When you are asked if you wantto activate StreetPass, select‘Yes’, then proceed to set up yourpersonalised postcard. Whenyou're done, select ‘Confirm’ andthe activation will be complete.
♦ You will need to have at least onephotograph in your photo albumin order to activate StreetPass.
If you want to stop the exchange ofpostcards via StreetPass, go to‘StreetPass Management’ under the‘Data Management’ option of yoursystem settings. Select the ‘DragonQuest VIII’ icon from there and tap‘Deactivate StreetPass’.
