Preliminary remarks This product is in line with the resolutions COREP/PIREP No 02/2007 and COREP/PIREP No 03/2007 and the National Catalogue for Professional Qualifications. It includes
• a detailed description of the professional qualification, including the professional field of action, the required competencies of the respective occupation and assessment procedures.
• the associated training qualifications, structured in training modules. This work is the result of a comprehensive study and analysis of the related productive system, particularly of the electric and electronic infrastructure of residential and commercial buildings in Mozambique. Furthermore, the result considers international standards which include beside other countries especially concepts of

General Competency
Professional field of action
Building Electronics provide technical and organizational services.
They maintain, monitor, control and secure building and infrastructure systems and can also be employed in the construction of building and infrastructure systems.
Typical sites of employment are residential and commercial buildings, factory buildings, functional buildings such as hospitals, infrastructure facilities and industrial plants.
Building Electronics work independently, observe the relevant regulations and safety rules and coordinate their work with the preceding and following activities.
They often work as part of a team.
They are qualified electricians within the meaning of the regulations for the prevention of accidents.
Qualification competence units
1. Analyse user requirements and recognize potential dangers, design changes of facility and use for technical systems (electricity and communications systems as well as supply systems), agree changes with users and advise users;
2. Calculate costs, award contracts and accept third-party services;
3. Install building and infrastructure systems, carry out, or arrange for the carrying out of, modifications;
4. Configure the control devices of technical systems, test the functioning of systems and safety equipment;
5. Hand over the systems and instruct users in the operation of technical systems;
6. Inspect and maintain systems and equipment in accordance with manufacturer's or operating standards and contribute to increased facility availability and efficiency; accept error messages, make error diagnoses, evaluate the potential risk of disturbances
7. Operate building and infrastructure systems in accordance with regulations, operator standards and user requirements;
8. Monitor technical systems in buildings with the help of automation and control systems, optimize the operation of such systems;

9. Carry out systematic searches for faults and disturbances, localize faults, carry out the repair of technical systems or arrange for the repair by the appropriate trades;
10. Monitor adherence to safety regulations, in particular regarding the provision of services by third parties and/or users, and take measures for ensuring safety in buildings;

Target Group:
This training directs to all school graduates with at least one good graduation from the 12. Class. Interest in electro technology, mathematics and physics is an advantage.
Prerequisites of the Applicants:
1. Basic craftsmanship and skills. 2. Ability to work independently and as a member of a team. 3. Organise and manage oneself and one’s activities responsibly and
effectively. 4. Effective and responsible decision making. 5. Logical thinking and ingenuity. 6. High tolerance to stress. 7. Effective communication using visual, mathematical and language skills in
the modes of oral and/or written persuasion. 8. Willingness to further education. 9. Flexibility and mobility.
Assessment (proposal):
A. Integrated Assessment: Continuous assessment in the form of self-assessment is carried out by the learner. This is done using activities and self-evaluations exercises. Continuous assessment is also carried out by the facilitators in the form of assignments that the learner must submit upon completion of each module of the learning programme. Formative and summative assessment are integrated in a final portfolio assessment. The learner builds up a portfolio of activities, self-evaluation exercises, assignments and projects which are assessed in order to determine whether the learner has achieved the exit level outcomes of the qualification.
