Dracula Character Descriptions

DRACULADracula is a centuries-old vampire and Transylvanian nobleman. Dracula exudes a veneer of aristocratic charm, but beneath is the epitome of the beast who lurks within us all. Actor should be adept at movement, dialect, and active stillness.

Dr. JOHN SEWARDA doctor, former student of Van Helsing, head of a private asylum, and caretaker of Renfield. Actor should be strong in upper class British dialect and movement.

LUCY WESTENRAA 19-year-old aristocrat, Mina's best friend, Seward’s fiancée, and Dracula's first victim. Actor should carry herself with an overt sensuality. Comfort with skin exposure is a plus.

MINA MURRAY (HARKER)A schoolteacher, Lucy’s closest friend, fiancé (later wife) of Jonathan Harker. Actor should exude a wisdom within an ingenue exterior. Would prefer a lighter actress due to possibility of dance lift.

JONATHAN HARKERSolicitor employed through his firm to secure a home in London for Dracula. Actor should be a leading man type, with dialect and movement a plus.

RENFIELDA lawyer whom Dracula turned mad, now a patient in Dr. Seward’s asylum. Actor should be adept in commitment to objectives and diction.

Dr. ABRAHAM HEINRICH VAN HELSINGM.D., D.Ph., D.Lit., etc., etc., of AmsterdamAn eccentric man of considerable knowledge, Seward’s former teacher, and a vampire hunter. Actor should be seasoned, but physically capable.

NOSFERATU (The SISTERS)Three siren-like vampire women who serve Dracula. Actors should have strong movement background. These roles have no dialogue and are reserved for physical storytelling. Some nudity may be required.
