Sathyanarayana on 20 th February, 2016 by 10:30 AM at Emeneau House. In this program eleven poets from South India had delivered instant poetry and entertained the audience. The word ‘Dravidian’ has three forms-Dramida, Draavida and Dravida. The word Dravida occurs in Sruti literature, Manusmriti, the Mahabharata, Skanda purana, Bhagavata Purana Soundarya Lahari, Amukta Malayada, and also our Indian National Anthem Bishop Caldwell an eminent Dravidian linguist, White-head, Crooke, Late V. I. Subramanyam, Former Pro-Chancellor of Dravidian University, Late. P. S. Kasipandian did a lot of research on Dravidians. The Co-ordinator and the School Dean of Comparative Dravidian Literature and Translation Studies Prof.S.Penchalaiah has introduced the main objective of the ‘Draavida Aaasukavitvam’ (Dravidian Poets Meet on Instant Poetry ) to facilitate discourse between our learned poets and the audience. NOTE

Draavida Aasukavitva Sammelanam (Dravidian Poets Meet on Instant

Poetry) has inaugurated by our esteemed Vice-chancellor Prof. E. Sathyanarayana on

20th February, 2016 by 10:30 AM at Emeneau House. In this program eleven poets

from South India had delivered instant poetry and entertained the audience.

The word ‘Dravidian’ has three forms-Dramida, Draavida and Dravida. The

and Translation Studies Prof.S.Penchalaiah has introduced the main objective of the

‘Draavida Aaasukavitvam’ (Dravidian Poets Meet on Instant Poetry ) to facilitate

discourse between our learned poets and the audience. The discourse was on

Dravidian concepts like; Dravidian literature, culture, religion, folk studies history,

linguistic philosophy and so on & so forth. The poets spontaneously created a poem

and recited the same, on the demand of the lovers of Dravidian aesthetics.

Further, the co-ordinator emphasised the their research activities on this

occasion. He also introduced the research activities as follows.

Under the school there are more than 100 National, International, seminars,

conferences, workshops, symposia’ Refresher courses and so on. Some of them are:

Language Use in Kuppam, Dravidian philosophy, Vemana, Christian theology,

Basaveswara, Thiruvalluvar, Sri Narayana guru, Periyar, Annamayya, Joshva, Folk

and tribal literature, Dalit Literature, Feminism, Alvars, etc, There are more than 100

books and around 500 articles were published by our faculty members.

Prof. E.Sathyanarayana, honorable Vice-Chancellor inaugurated the program

and Dr.Medasani Mohan (Sahasravadhaani) delivered keynote address. In the first

session six Poets instantly delivered many poems which are related to Dravidian

Culture, History, Literature and Religion. Similarly in the Second session five poets

delivered poems in different languages and entertained the scholars and students.

In the valedictory session Sri. N.Madhava Naidu Registrar I/c, was the guest of

Honor and Ravindra Bharathi. Tamil poet was special invitee and Sri

S.G.Siddaramaiah, Kannada poet has delivered valedictory address and the program

was ended with the National Anthem
