MICRO ECONOMICS
PAPER CODE - 01 BA 108
Course objectives -
Education in Economics begins with a study of the most fundamental ideas that govern economic
activities. A beginner normally commences the study of these ideas with two courses in the
methodology and principles of economics. The first course covers the simple relations that are
concerned with the economic behavior of individual economic agents. This course is called
microeconomics-1. It will introduce the students to the basic ideas and tools that will be utilized
throughout in other courses of the degree programme.
UNIT I
Introduction of Economic, Nature and Scope of Economics. Differences between Micro and Macro
Economics, Significance of Micro Economics in Decision Making and Fundamental Concepts of
economics. Objectives of Business Firms.
UNIT II
Supply and Demand: Individual demand and supply schedules and the derivation of market demand
and supply; shifts in demand and supply curves; the role prices in resource allocation; the concept of
elasticity and its application; consumer and producer surplus; taxes and their efficiency costs.
Techniques of demand forecasting.
UNIT III
Production Function and Laws of productions in short and long run. Managerial applications of
production functions. Indifference curve and then properties, optimal input combination. Cost
concepts cost- output relationship, Iso-cost and Iso-quant approach.

Course objective- This subject scope is on the inter linkages in terms of international finance, international trade and international monetary economics. This includes study of the flow goods and services, flow of capital and the flow of money across international borders.

Course objectives - the main objective of the course is to teach students the core topics in environment economics focusing on systematic analysis using micro economic theory.
Unit 1 - Economic growth and development, factors affecting economic growth: capital labour and technology, development and underdevelopment, perpetuation of underdevelopment poverty.
