The Second State Level Conference of Regional Chapter of Anatomy : MAHACON II

was successfully conducted by the Department. Total registration : 174, Papers

presented (oral-28 and poster-21). Feedback Report (very satisfied-87.01%, Somewhat

satisfied-12.98%).

Department of Psychiatry

1. Dr (Brig) D Saldanha, Professor won silver medal in the Marathon in

Magarpattacity Sports festival held recently on 10th January 2016.

2. Dr L Bhattacharya Prof and HOD, Dr (Brig) D Saldanha Professor and 8

Residents and Dr S K Mehta Consultant (Psychiatry) attended the 68th

Annual Conference of India Psychiatric Society held at Bhopal ( MP) from 21-24th January 2016.

3. Dr L Bhattacharya and Dr S K Mehta chaired one scientific session each. Dr

D Saldanha chaired three scientific sessions. Eight residents took part in

two symposiums; presented free papers and two posters. All the sessions

were well attended.

Department of Forensic Medicine

Dr. Praveen Kumar Arora Attended MET Revised Basic Course Workshop and AT-COM Sensitization programme

organized by the MCI Regional Centre, Institute of Medical Education Technology and

Teachers Training, MUHS Regional Centre, Pune from 18th to 21st January 2016.

He has attended Bioethics Update for Medical Students held at Father Muller Medical

College, Mangalore held on 17th January 2016. He was also invited to Judge Students’

talk on Bioethics in the above mentioned event.

Department of Anaesthesiology

Dr. Smita Joshi, Professor Attended 8th National Conference of ‘Paediatric Anaesthesiology’ on between 28th – 30th

January 2016 in Christian Medical College, Vellore.

Awarded 30 CME points by Dr. M.G.R. Medical University. Attended 2

workshops:

1) One lung ventilation 2) CXR, CT. MRI in Anterior mediastinal mars (interpretation) anaesthetic

management at such cases.

She attended CME in Legal Medicine. The CME in Legal Medicine was organized by Core India Institute of Legal Medicine at Pune on Sunday, 21st Feb. 2016.

Dr Amit Malik, JR-II attended conference and presented poster in 31st Annual

National conference of Indian Society for the study of pain organized by ISSP Indore city branch at Brilliant Convention,Indore on 5th to 7th Feb.2016.

Topic – Role of Flupirtine as preemptive analgesic in laparoscopic Gynaec surgeries

Workshop on Maxillofacial Surgery was conducted in O.T. on 23rd Feb.2016 with International Faculty operating the patients. All O.T. arrangements and anaesthesia

work managed by Anaesthesiology Department.

HOD Anaesthesia department Dr W.S.Thatte and faculty and residents of

Anaesthesiology Department in collaboration with Association of Obstetrics Anaesthetist(AOA) and ISA Pimpri Chinchwad branch organized a CME on 21st

National: National Indian Radiology and Imaging Association Conference Bhubaneshwar 21st

Jan to 24th Jan 2016. 1. He received the prestigious fellowship of the Indian College of Radiology and

Imaging (FICR). This was awarded to 8 people this year and Dr Kharat is the

only person awarded this year from Western India.

2. Dr Amit Kharat was chosen as a panelist for the prestigious Dr Suren Kothari

Memorial Film reading session held under the aegis of Indian College of Radiology and Imaging (ICRI).

3. He presented his paper “Patellar Instability Imaging”. 4. He also presented a faculty talk on “Teleradiology” under the section called

Dr. Sharad Agarkhedkar, Professor and Head, participated in panel

was appreciated by one and all.

Milk Banking.

Dr Prasad Sale attended EMCON 2015 National Conference held at HYDERABAD on 22/11/15-24/11/15 ; presented a Paper and Poster entitled ‘Anti TB Treatment

induced DRESS Syndrome’, under the mentorship of Dr Varsha Shinde. It is

Dr. Dakshayani Pandit delivered a guest lecture on Epidemic Viral Diseases at

H. V. Desai College, Pune in a State Level Workshop on Viral Epidemics and Urban Health on 23rd January, 2016.

Shri. Jetendrabhai Kotadia, father of Dr. Bhargava Kotadia (JR II) has kindly donated 100 intraocular lenses to the department, to be used for department camp and OPD

Department of Urology Faculty and Residents of the department had actively participated at the national conference, which was organized by Urological society of India at Hyderabad from 7 th to 10th Jan 2016.

The faculties: Dr. Vilas Sable, Dr. Vikram Satav, Dr. Deepak Mane, Dr. Abhirudra Mulay and residents Dr. Naveen Thakur, Dr.Mehul Singh who not only attended the conference, but also actively participated in it.

There were two papers, which were selected as best paper prize and were presented. The papers were one of its own kind and very well appreciated by urology fraternity, which made our institute’s name recognized at national level.

National Level Inter-Medical Collegiate Bioethics Skit Competition organized by South India Unit of International Network of UNESCO Chair in Bioethics in
