Local womens imaging specialist receives dualrecognition

Dr. Cathryn Chicola named Honorary Chair of Komen Eugene Race for the Cure;

also becomes sole Lane County practitioner named to Medical Advisory Board.

Eugene, Ore. As a radiologist, shes one of the only women in a predominantly

male-dominated field. In her role as Director of Womens Imaging at Oregon

Imaging Centers, shes also the only radiologist in Lane County who dedicates her

practice full-time to breast imaging and breast-cancer diagnosis. Now, Dr. Cathryn

Chicola has the distinction of being the only medical practitioner in Lane County tobe named to the Medical Advisory Board for the Oregon Affiliate of Susan G. Komen

for the Cure.

In further recognition of her local achievements and dedication to issuessurrounding womens health, Dr. Chicola was also named an Honorary Chair of the

Inaugural Komen Eugene Race for the Cure, scheduled for October 10, 2010 at

Autzen Stadium in Eugene.

Dr. Chicola plays a critical role in Lane County as a trusted breast cancer expert,

says Chris McDonald, Executive Director of Komen Oregon. We are proud to have a

medical professional of her caliber promoting the 2010 Eugene Race for the Cure onthe local level, as well as sharing her expertise with Komen Oregons Medical

Advisory Board to build on our successful partnership with the medical

community.

As part of the Komen Oregon Medical Advisory Board, Dr. Chicola will have input

into the content and topics covered by the two annual breast cancer issuesconferences hosted by the affiliate, as well as provide a sounding board and

knowledge base for Komen Oregon on emerging topics in the fight against breast

cancer.
