Dr. Anna Kushnir Joins SMIVirologist and Government Researcher to Establish Life Science Group
Washington, D.C -- Dr. Anna Kushnir joined Strategic Marketing Innovations (SMI) as an Associate. Dr. Kushnir, a virologist, comes to SMI with a background in biomedical research and government funding.

Most recently, Dr. Kushnir worked at GryphonScientific, where she led Gryphon’s projects inbiosurveillance and emerging infectious diseases.During her time at Gryphon, Dr. Kushnir brought herextensive background in virology and well-honedscientific writing skills to research and write technical reports relating to virological and microbiologicalsubjects. She also led Gryphon’s grant support efforts for small biotech and high-technology companies, in which she advised on grant strategy, and researched, wrote and edited grants for government funding agencies such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Department of Defense (DOD).
Prior to joining Gryphon, Dr. Kushnir worked as a science writer and online community manager at Nature Publishing Group (NPG). In the course of her work at NPG, she contributed research highlights to select Nature journals and facilitated the peer review process for author submissions to Nature’s Signaling Gateway.
As a graduate student, Dr. Kushnir’s work focused on the role of cellular stress pathways in herpes viruslatency and reactivation.
Dr. Kushnir holds a BA in biology from the University of Virginia and a PhD in virology from Harvard University.
