Dr. Anita Elliott
On those chilly fall and winter days, a hearty
bowl of soup is the perfect meal to cozy up
with in front of the roaring fireplace. What's
even better about soup is you can make just
about any type of it in a crockpot with
minimal effort. Toss the ingredients in before
you leave for work, cook on low throughout
the day, and you'll come home to the most
fantastic aroma filling your home and a
delicious dinner waiting for you. Honestly,
what's better than that!?
We have the soup staples that we cook on
repeat, and undoubtedly a few family recipes
passed down, as well. Today, I wanted to
provide you with a few of my straightforward,
healthy and delicious crockpot soup recipes
that get me through the cold months. I hope
you enjoy!
If you're ready to commit to eating healthy
on a regular basis, having the right tools for
the job is an important place to start. Often
the roadblock that holds us back is the
perception that healthy cooking is
troublesome, time-consuming or difficult.
But honestly, that’s not the case, especially
when your kitchen has all the essentials
ready to go.
All it takes is some simple hacks,
preparation, fun tools that make life easier
and the will to feed yourself nourishing
foods. Let's go over some of my favorite
kitchen tools that are the best for making
healthy eating easy, delicious and quick.

Everyone has been raving about this
revolutionary kitchen tool, and for good
reason. The Instant Pot can make meals in a
snap, serving seven different purposes as a
slow cooker, steamer, pressure cooker, rice
cooker, and much more.
You can even make your own yogurt in
some of them! You can prepare ingredients
from frozen to fully cooked in mere minutes
without sacrificing flavor or tenderness. It’s
fast, efficient, and home cooks everywhere
are swearing by it. It's the perfect addition to
your kitchen countertop if you don't have
one already.

Do you love pasta but need to get more
veggies in your diet? A veggie spiralizer is
the perfect compromise. Veggie spiralizers
can be as simple as an inexpensive
handheld tool, and as advanced as a hearty
setup for your countertop with a hand crank
and different output options.
These spiralizers can turn just about any
veggie you’ve got into beautiful noodle-like
strands. The advanced models allow you to
change sizes and shapes so you can create
worthy replacements for your favorite pasta
dishes. You can eat them raw, cooked,
topped with your favorite sauce -- there are
endless options.

Cooking oil is a staple in the kitchen, and I'll
bet you have a bottle in your cabinet at this
very moment. There are numerous different
cooking oils to choose from, a few favorites of
mine being avocado oil, coconut oil, sesame
oil, and olive oil.
Instead of purchasing the oil spray from the
grocery store, did you know you can buy a
refillable oil spray bottle? In fact, these
refillable bottles spray differently than the
standard disposable ones and distribute your
oil much more efficiently. This helps you to
use less oil, saving calories and money,
making it the perfect companion in your
kitchen.

With these salad making companions, you'll
have no excuse for not making a fresh salad.
The 60-Second Salad Maker gadget allows you
to create a salad in just a minute’s time, and it
can also be used as a strainer, cutting board,
and salad bowl. Simply fill it with your veggies
(or even a collection of fruits), rinse, strain, and
slice with your knife while it’s all in there. You’ll
have a salad ready to go in an instant!
Additionally, a Salad Spinner is also a great
addition in the kitchen. Washing your leafy
greens is very important, and the salad spinner
helps to separate all the water from your lettuce
in no time, for a crisp, non-soggy salad.

Air fryers technically aren’t fryers -- they’re small
convection ovens for the countertop that
circulates hot air to cook your food, resulting in
that crispy fried texture you love without all the
oil. It’s a healthier way to enjoy many things that
typically come fried, but it's also a great way to
cook an array of dishes at a rapid speed.
One of my favorite things to cook in the Air Fryer
is vegetables. They cook incredibly fast and
leave that crispy texture that adds a bit of a
crunch to your meal. Adding the Air Fryer to
your kitchen will help make short work of
cooking light, so pick one up next time you're
out, and you will have a blast trying new recipes
with it.

Healthy Air Fryer Ideas: There are so many healthy dishes you can make in the Air Fryer. In
mere minutes you can have the most delicious crispy brussels sprouts, air-fried chickpeas for
a crunchy snack or a salad topper, kale chips, and you can even make healthy cookies or a
cake in an Air Fryer!
Best Vegetables to Spiralize: zucchini, broccoli, carrot, sweet potato, squash, cucumber,
and beets.
