{Lt161-1903.6} “The people of God need to study what characters they must

form in order to pass through the test and proving of the last days. Many are

living in spiritual weakness and backsliding. They know not what they believe.

Let us read and study the twelfth chapter of Daniel. It is a warning that

we shall all need to understand before the time of the end. There are

ministers claiming to believe the truth who are not sanctified through the truth .

Unless a change comes in their lives, they will say, “My Lord delayeth His

coming.”

Unsanctified ministers offer “strange fire” (Lev 10:1; Num 3:4; 26:61)

Dan 12:1a “And at that time shall Michael stand up, the

great prince which standeth for the children of thy

people”

When the king of the north (Dan 11:45) demands worship, judgment will be

completed as described in Dan 7:9-10, 13-14.

Dan 7:26 “But the judgment shall sit, and they shall take away his dominion,

to consume and to destroy it unto the end.”

When the papal doctrine of Sunday sacredness is established by law

throughout the world, this will be the great test for God’s people and signal the imminent closing of earth’s probation as every case of the living will be judged. “Michael” (“one who is like God”) is used when Christ is in direct conflict with Satan (e.g.: “Commander of the army of the Lord” Josh 5:13-15).

{LS88 341.2} “But Satan flatters some, through his chosen servants, as he flattered Eve in Eden, ‘Thou shalt not surely die;’ and tells them there will be a

season for repentance, a time of probation when the filthy can be made pure.

The co-workers with Satan and his angels carry the light into the future

age, teaching probation after the advent of Christ, which deludes the

sinner, and leads the cold-hearted professor to carnal security. They

become careless and indifferent, and walk stumblingly over the hours of their

probation. The light is made to reach far ahead, where all is total darkness.

Michael stands up. Instead of mercy, the deluded sinner feels wrath unmixed

with mercy, having awakened too late to the fatal deception. This plan was

studied by Satan, and is carried out by ministers who turn the truth of

God into a lie.”

Signifies the end of Jesus’s Priestly ministry and the pre-advent judgment in

heaven begun in 1844 and being given the “kingdom” of His people.

{SpM 2A.3} “I saw that all things are intensely looking and stretching their

{SpM 3.1} “The latter rain is coming on those that are pure—all then will

receive it as formerly.”

{SpM 3.2} “When the four angels let go, Christ will set up His kingdom. None

receive the latter rain but those who are doing all they can. Christ would

help us. All could be overcomers by the grace of God, through the blood of

Jesus. All heaven is interested in the work. Angels are interested.”

Only the “sealed saints” receive the latter rain of Holy Spirit (Eze 9:6; 1Pet

4:17).

{SpM 3.4-5} March 18, 1852 “How long then, angel of God, before the message will

go with a loud voice? Other things to be accomplished. They must make

themselves more vile. If Jesus should make His appearance in their midst, they

would despise Him. They advocate their errors for awhile, until the people

get disgusted with it, then they add another. Nights upon their beds, horror

gets hold upon them. Can ye not see it? Live unto God. He has got them safe in

the snare. The honest are getting disgusted. Satan works at the very ones that

do Him the most harm. God can make them a host against their enemies. Ye

give up too quick. Ye let go too soon. That arm, the arm of God is mighty.

Satan works in different ways to steal the mind off from God. Victory!

victory, we must have it over every wrong. A solemn sinking into God. Get

ready! Set thine house in order.”

{PP 255.5-256.1} “On the way from Midian, Moses received a startling and

terrible warning of the Lord’s displeasure. An angel appeared to him in a threatening manner, as if he would immediately destroy him. No explanation

was given; but Moses remembered that he had disregarded one of God’s requirements; yielding to the persuasion of his wife, he had neglected to

perform the rite of circumcision upon their youngest son. He had failed to

comply with the condition by which his child could be entitled to the blessings

of God’s covenant with Israel; and such a neglect on the part of their chosen leader could not but lessen the force of the divine precepts upon the people.

the rite herself, and the angel then permitted Moses to pursue his journey. In

his mission to Pharaoh, Moses was to be placed in a position of great peril;

his life could be preserved only through the protection of holy angels. But

while living in neglect of a known duty, he would not be secure; for he could

not be shielded by the angels of God. In the time of trouble just before the

coming of Christ, the righteous will be preserved through the ministration

of heavenly angels; but there will be no security for the transgressor of

God’s law. Angels cannot then protect those who are disregarding one of

{GC 614.1} “When He leaves the sanctuary, darkness covers the inhabitants of

the earth. In that fearful time the righteous must live in the sight of a holy

God without an intercessor. The restraint which has been upon the wicked is

removed, and Satan has entire control of the finally impenitent.”

{2T 690.3} “When Jesus rises up in the most holy place, and lays off His mediatorial garments, and clothes Himself with the garments of vengeance in

place of the priestly attire, the work for sinners will be done.”

eternal life. An opportunity will be given to all to decide for life or death. Men

will be judged according to the measure of light given them. None will be

accountable for their darkness and their errors if the light has not been

brought to them. They have not sinned in not accepting what has not been

given them. All will be tested before Jesus leaves His position in the most holy

place. The probation of all closes when the pleading for sinners is ended and

the garments of vengeance are put on.”

{2T 691.2} “Many entertain the view that probation is granted after Jesus leaves His work as mediator in the most holy apartment. This is the sophistry of

Satan.”

{SpM 2.1} “Then I saw that Jesus’ work in the sanctuary will soon be finished. And after His work there is finished, He will come to the door of the first

apartment, and confess the sins of Israel upon the head of the Scape Goat.

Then He will put on the garments of vengeance. Then the plagues will come

upon the wicked, and they do not come till Jesus puts on that garment, and

takes His place upon the great white cloud. Then while the plagues are falling,

the Scape Goat is being led away. He makes a mighty struggle to escape, but

he is held fast by the hand that leads him. If he should effect his escape, Israel

would lose their lives. I saw that it would take time to lead away the Scape

Goat into the land of forgetfulness after the sins were put on his head.”

{GC 425.1} “Those who are living upon the earth when the intercession of

Christ shall cease in the sanctuary above are to stand in the sight of a holy

God without a mediator. Their robes must be spotless, their characters

must be purified from sin by the blood of sprinkling. Through the grace of

God and their own diligent effort they must be conquerors in the battle

with evil. While the investigative judgment is going forward in heaven, while

the sins of penitent believers are being removed from the sanctuary, there is to

be a special work of purification, of putting away of sin, among God’s people upon earth. This work is more clearly presented in the messages of Revelation

14.”

time of Jacob’s trouble. Then all the saints cried out with anguish of spirit,

garments was written in large characters, “Thou art weighed in the balance, and found wanting.” I asked who this company were. The angel said, “These are they who have once kept the Sabbath and have given it up.” I heard them

that is holy, let him be holy still.” Revelation 22:11. Then the restraining Spirit of God is withdrawn from the earth. As Jacob was threatened with death by

his angry brother, so the people of God will be in peril from the wicked who

are seeking to destroy them. And as the patriarch wrestled all night for

deliverance from the hand of Esau, so the righteous will cry to God day and

night for deliverance from the enemies that surround them.”

{PP 201.3-202.1} “Speaking of Jacob, “As he reviewed his life, he was driven almost to despair; but he held fast the Angel, and with earnest, agonizing cries urged his petition until he prevailed. Such will be the experience of God’s people in their final struggle with the powers of evil. God will test their faith, their perseverance, their confidence in His power to deliver them. Satan will endeavor to terrify them with the thought that their cases are hopeless; that their sins have been too great to receive pardon. They will have a deep sense of their shortcomings, and as they review their lives their hopes will sink. But remembering the greatness of God’s mercy, and their own sincere repentance, they will plead His promises made through Christ to helpless, repenting sinners. Their faith will not fail because their prayers are not immediately answered. They will lay hold of the strength of God, as Jacob laid hold of the Angel, and the language of their souls will be, “I will not let Thee go, except Thou bless me.”

seemed to be surrounded by the wicked inhabitants of the earth. Every

appearance was against them. Some began to fear that God had at last left them

to perish by the hand of the wicked. But if their eyes could have been opened,

multitude of the angry wicked, and next a mass of evil angels, hurrying on the

The prophecy of Daniel 8:14 specified the very day, October 22, 1844, on

which the Investigative Judgment of the dead was to begin. This was the Day

of Atonement based on the Jewish calendar, in 1844. Is it not reasonable that

God would reveal to the last generation those events connected with the

beginning of the judgment of the living as a warning to be ready?

Daniel 12 does not contain prophetic symbolism similar to that found in

Daniel 2, 7, 8, and 11 as well as Revelation.

Daniel 12 uses literal language just as Jesus’ teaching in Matthew 24. Rev 10:6 “…there should be time no longer” (chrónos, khron'-os; of uncertain

derivation; a space of time) either indicating there are no dated time prophecies

after October 22, 1844 or that the uncertainty of time will be eliminated and

replaced by certainty.

Two witnesses were required by Old Testament law to validate a charge, in

this case an oath made by Jesus (Num 35:30; Deu 17:6; 19:15).

Moses and Elijah served as two witnesses (representing those who will be

raised to life and those who will not experience death), at the Mount of

Transfiguration (Mat 17:1-3; Luk 9:27-36).

The two witnesses of Rev 11 refer to the Old and New Testaments.

Daniel was “…much troubled…” by “a time and times and the dividing of time” [H5732, Aramaic: “iddan” “a set time; technically, a year:—time.”] in Dan 7:25, 28,

implying that he did understand that prophecy using symbolic language. Here,

he didn’t understand another “time, times, and an half” in context of literal

language.

Dan 12:9 “And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the

words are closed up and sealed till the time of the

end.”

The “way” of all is the sleep of death. The “words” must relate to events to take place during the time of the end.

Daniel, the bitter little book referenced in Rev 10:9-10, began to be

understood in the early 1800’s by William Miller. The full import of the sanctuary doctrine within the setting of the three angels messages was finally

understood in 1848. This is the call to worship the true God in the application

of the Sanctuary relating to the pre-advent “investigative” judgment in Heaven and revelation of the 4th commandment (Heb 8:1-2; Rev 11:1).

{GC 356.2} “…since 1798 the book of Daniel has been unsealed, knowledge of

the prophecies has increased, and many have proclaimed the solemn message

of the judgment near.”

The “daily” [H8548, tamiyd] means “continual.” Paganism was continued under the guise of Christianity. Christ’s continual ministry at the Golden Altar in Heaven was replaced by pagan tradition, and non-biblical doctrines.

Dan 8:11 “…by him the daily sacrifice was taken away, and the place of his

sanctuary was cast down.”

“Taken away” [H5493, CUWR] means “to turn aside, depart from the way,” referring to the nations giving their authority to the Papal church, past (538-

1798) and future (202x).

Rev 17:13 “These have one mind, and shall give their power and strength

unto the beast.”

An abomination of desolation took place at the temple in AD70. 1,290

days/years culminates with the start of the reformation in 1360 by John

Wycliffe, known as the “morning star”; translated the Latin Vulgate Bible (God’s WORD) to English. Rev 2:28 “And I will give him the morning star.”

Daniel 12:11 identifies two conditions that constitute initiation of these time

prophecies, “the daily shall be taken away” and “the abomination that

maketh desolate set up.” The context of Daniel 12 is providing literal instruction for the those living in

“end of these” things. The language used in Daniel 12 is not symbolic.

1,335 years from the abomination of the temple (Mat 24:15) culminated when

John Huss, known as the “first practicing reformer,” began preaching in Prague in 1405.
