    GENERAL SAFETY

    Use Proper Power Cord: Use only the power cord specified for this product and certifiedfor the country of use.

    Connect & Disconnect Properly: Do not connect or disconnect probes or test leadswhile they are connected to a voltage source.

    Ground the Product: This product is grounded through the grounding conductor of thepower cord. To avoid electric shock, the grounding conductor must be connected to earthground. Before making connections to the input or output terminals of the product, ensure

    that the product is properly grounded.

    Connect the Probe Properly: The probe ground lead is at ground potential. Do notconnect the ground lead to an elevated voltage.

    Observe all Terminal Ratings: To avoid fire or shock hazard, observe all ratings andmarking on the product. Consult the product manual for further ratings information beforemaking connections to the product.

    Do not operate without Covers: Do not operate this product with covers or panelsremoved.

    Use Proper Fuse: Use only the fuse type and rating specified for this product.

    Avoid Exposed Circuitry: Do not touch exposed connections and components whenpower is present.

    Do not Operate with Suspected Failures: If you suspect there is damage to thisproduct, have it inspected by qualified service personnel.

    Provide Proper Ventilation: Refer to the manual’s installation instructions for details oninstalling the product so it has proper ventilation.

    1. Introduction: 

    GLOBAL Microprocessor basedDigital pH, Model DPH 507 is aprecise and rugged instrumentdesigned to meet the needs of serious

    pH and temperature measurement inLaboratories & Industries. Thisinstrument features Automatictemperature compensation & Manualtemperature compensation for pH, inaddition to measuring Temperature ofthe solution.

    This instrument incorporates the lateststate of Art Technology and is housed in a specially treated stress relieved metal cabinet. All the controls in regular use are provided on the front panel for operational ease. It hasnon-blinking bright 7-segment LED’s display of 4 digits for pH/mV and 3 digits for temp.

    This instrument has a built-in voltage stabilizer and is capable of operating at 230V-50Hz.

    3. Theory of operation

    When a pair of electrodes, namely pH sensitive glass and reference electrodes is dippedin an aqueous solution, they generate an EMF, which is proportional to the pH of thesolution. The magnitude of EMF is also dependent on the temperature of the solution.Beside this temperature dependent EMF, a certain potential is generated by the

    electrode pair and this remains fairly constant for a given pair of electrodes. Since the pHsensitive surface is glass, the internal resistance between the EMF from such a highresistance source, an ordinary VTVM cannot be used.

    Therefore an electrometer amplifier with high input impedance is used to ensurehigh accuracy and a very good performance.

    5. Front Panel Keys operation: 

    Program/Calibration/Escape keyModes: RUN, Configuration, Load default, Program.

    • If this key is pressed and the instrument powered up while stillpressed, the instrument Configuration mode is initiated.

    • During normal operation “Run mode”, if this key is pressed, “Program

    mode” is initiated.

    • Return from any mode without saving changes (Escape)

    • Return back to previous screen (Back).

    Scroll keyModes: RUN, Configuration, Load default, Program.

    • Selects next digit, Load Default Mode (Power ON).• Select ATC or MTC

    • Select next function in Configuration, Service or calibration mode.

    • Select next digit when user is entering any numerical data (e.g.Password entry, Calibration values, etc.)

    Increment key Modes: RUN, Configuration, Load default, Program.

    • Increments selected digit during data entry.

     For each keystroke increments one-value up to 9 and for the next• keystroke roll back to 0 and again starts incrementing.

    Decrement keyModes: RUN, Configuration, Load default, Program.

    •  Decrements selected digit during the data entry.

    •  For each keystroke decrements one value up to 0 and fornext keystroke again starts decrementing from 9.

    (PH/mV)/ENT key Modes: RUN, Configuration, Load default, Program.

    • This key is used to enter into any of the modes and check pH value inmV (displayed value equals to the value set in the mV calibrator).

    • Accepts and stores displayed value.

    • Accept and store program value changes.

    9. Display:

    Two digit “power ON” display. 

    This will be displayed during the Initial powerup for the device.

    The upper row value 7.00 indicates pH and 25.0 inthe lower row indicates temperature in degreecentigrade (ºC). ATC, MTC can select using scrollkey. 

    10. Front Panel LED indications:

    The Front Panel is having 2 rows of 4 digits LED’s display for pH/mV and 3 digits LED’sfor temperature, including 8 -Annunciation LED’s for ATC, MTC, °C, RD, pH, mV, PGM,COM.

    •  An ATC LED glows when Temperature is set in ATC mode. It is selected using scrollkey with Sensor connected (Automatic Temperature compensation).

    •  MTC LED glows when the temperature is set in MTC (Manual TemperatureCompensation) mode.

    •  °Celsius LED indicates temperature is in °C (ATC / MTC mode).

    •  Read LED glows when pH is stable while calibration.

    •  pH LED glows when the pH value is displayed.

      mV LED glows when a pH value is indicated in mV.

    •  PGM LED glows in other than RUN mode.

    11. Modes of Operation:

    1. RUN Mode2. Program mode

    12. Run Mode:

    Whenever the device is switched “ON” and if no key pressed during Power ON, itgoes into RUN mode, it remains in RUN mode until any key press.

    The upper row displays the pH value.

    The lower row displays temperature value. User canchange MTC temperature in run Mode,only by usingINCR or DECR key if it is in MTC mode

    13. Configuration Mode: (Can be activated only while switching ‘ON’ device)

    To enter into CONFIG mode, first press PGM key & then switch ON the device donot leave PGM key till all LEDs are switched OFF except PGM LED. It displaysConf iguration.

    Enter correct password (three digits numeric 000 to 999) the device will enterConfiguration mode. In case if you forget the password, all settings including thepassword can be set to default setting by loading default during power on set-up. (Referto Default Load section).

    In Configuration mode, following functions can be set: 

    1. Configuration & Calibration modes Password can be changed.

    2. BAUDRATE can be set for communication.

    3. Calibration Stranded selection

    Note: Any change in data is saved ONLY after pressing ENT key.

    Enter correct password. (In this screen first digit blinks)

    ▲ /▼: Increment/decrement selected digit by 1 foreach keystroke, 1st digit.

    ►: Select next digit of password, selected digitblinks.

    ENT: If the entered password is correct then afterpressing the ENT key enters into the ConfigurationMode.

    PGM: Abort CONFIG mode & go to RUN mode.

    (Note: Default configuration password is 900)

    If the entered password is wrong, it will show the

    error (ConF Err ) screen for 3 sec and return back

    to configuration screen. This will repeat until the

    correct password is entered.

    13.1. Password change 

    The starting function of configuration mode is  Password CHange. Password can bechanged in between the range 000 to 999. 

    ►: Goes into baud rate setting screen.

    ENT: Enters into Passwor d CHange for

    Configuration mode.

    PGM: Abort Configuration mode.

    13.1.1 Password change for Configuration:

    ►: Goes into password change for Calibrationmode.

    ENT: Enters into password CHange forConFiguration mode.

    PGM: Goes to Password Change screen.

     Always 000 will display in Password screen (default).

    ▲ /▼: Increment / decrement selected digit by 1 foreach keystroke, 1st digit.

    ►: Select next digit of password, selected digit blinks.

    ENT: New password will be saved & theConfiguration Screen automatically will appear.

    PGM: Previous password remains same & newpassword will not save.

    13.1.2. Password change for Calibration mode:

    ►: Goes password change for Configuration mode.

    ENT: Enters into password change forCALibration mode.

    PGM: Return to the Password change Screen.

    ▲ /▼: Increment/decrement selected digit by 1 foreach keystroke 1st digit.

    ►: Select next digit of password, selected digit 

    blinks.

    ENT: New password will be saved & the PreviousScreen will appear. 

    PGM: Previous password remain same & newpassword will not save and password changescreen will appear. 

    13.2. Baud rate Setting:

    ►: Goes to the Calibration Standard Settingscreen

    ENT: Enter into baud r ate Setting.

    PGM: Abort Configuration mode.

    ▲: baud rate is changed to 19.2

    ▼: baud rate is changed to 4.8

    ENT: New baud rate (9.6) is saved then baud rate screen automatically will appear.

    PGM: Old baud rate remains same and new baudrate is not saved then again baud rate settingscreen will appear.

    Note: Default baud rate setting is 9.6

    13.3. Calibration standard:

    There are two kinds of standards:

      USA standard  NIST standard

    13.3.1. USA Standard:

    ►: Goes password change Screen. 

    ENT: Enter into CALibration Standard mode.

    PGM: Abort Configuration mode.

    ►: Select Nist standard using the scroll key.

    ENT: Accepts the Calibration in USA Standardand previous Calibration standard screen willappear .

    PGM: Previous Calibration standard remain same,new Calibration standard will not save and it willcome back to the previous screen.

    Note: If USA standard mode is selected calibration will be done for buffers 4.01, 7.00 and10.01 pH.

    13.3.2. NIST Standard:

    ►: Select USA standard using the scroll key.

    ENT: Accepts the Calibration in nist Standardand previous Calibration standard screen willappear.

    PGM: Previous Calibration standard remain same,new Calibration standard will not save and it willcome back to the previous screen.

    Note: If  niSt standard mode is selected calibration will be done for buffers 4.01, 6.86 and9.18 pH.

    14. Program mode:

    When PGM key is pressed in RUN mode following modes can be accessible.

    •  Calibration mode

    •  Service mode

    Enter correct password for Programming mode i.e Calibration mode (Password canbe changed in Configuration mode).

    In RUN mode(After switch ON the instrument) press PGM key then enters in to theCalibration mode. It will ask password for Calibration mode as shown in the belowscreen.

    14.1. Calibration Mode:

    ►: Goes for service mode.

    ENT: Displays CAL screen with password blinking.

    PGM: Abort the calibration mode & go to RUNmode. 

    Enter correct password. (In this screen first digit blinks.)

    ▲ /▼: Increment / decrement selected digit by 1for each Keystroke, 1st digit.

    ►: Select next digit of password, selected digit blinks.

    ENT: Goes into pH calibration mode.

    PGM: Abort Program Function & go to RUN mode.

    If the entered password is wrong, it will show the

    error (CAL Err ) screen for 3 sec and return back to

    previous screen. This will repeat until the

    correct password is entered.

    In CALibration mode, two parameters should be calibrated.They are:

    1. pH calibration.2. Temperature calibration.

    Both pH and temperature calibration can be classified further based on number ofpoints.

    • Single point• Two point• Three point (pH only)

    14.1.1PH calibration:

    ►: It goes for temperature Calibration Screen.

    ENT: Enter into pH Single point calibration mode.

    PGM: Goes back to calibration mode screen.

    14.1.1.1 Single point calibration:

    ►: Goes to 2pt/3pt point calibration.

    ENT: Enters into single (1) Point PH calibration.

    PGM: Abort the single point calibration.

    ►: Selects next buffer value 4.01/ 9.18pH. 

    PGM: Abort the single point calibration mode & goto the pH calibration screen

    14.1.1.3 Three point calibration:

    To enter into Three (3) Point CALibration mode, user has to press ► key after display oftwo point calibration on screen.

    ►: Goes for single point /two point calibration.

    ENT: Enter into three (3) Point CALibration modeand go to first point entry i.e. 6.86 

    PGM: Aborts 3-point calibration and goes back topH calibration screen.

    ►: Selects next buffer values 4.01 /9.18(nist) to be

    calibrated.

    PGM: Abort calibration and goes back to pHcalibration screen.

    ENT: The display alternates between current pH and required pH value.

    ENT:  Accept the Current pH value to required pH value & displays the screen of 3P2(Second point).

    ►: Selects other buffer values 9.18/6.86 (nist) to becalibrated.

    PGM: Abort calibration and goes to pH calibrationscreen.

    14.1.2 Temperature calibration:

    1. This screen appears when the user tries to

    calibrate temperature in MTC mode.

    2. To select ATC mode user should go to runmode & Press ► key.

    ►: Goes pH calibration screen

    ENT: Enter into tEMP CALibration function. i.e.single point calibration

    PGM: Aborts temperature calibration.

    14.1.2.1 Single point calibration:

    ►: Goes for two point calibration.

    ENT: Enter into Single (1) Point CALibrationmode.

    PGM: Aborts temperature calibration.

    ▲ /▼: Increment /decrement selected digit by 1 foreach Keystroke selected (digit blinks).

    ►: Select next digit selected digit blinks.

    ENT: Accept the entered value and then ok screenwill appear as shown in the below screen

    PGM: Abort the Single point calibration mode. 

    The first point entry 0 (zero) is to be loaded followedbby enter key press which starts Calibration asshown below.

    ►: used to select next digit, selected digit blinks.

    ENT: Accept the entered value and then ok screenwill appear as shown in the below screen.

    PGM: Abort the two-point calibration mode.

    If Calibration done correctly The “busy 2P1”screen will appear.

    15. Load Default Mode: (can be activated only during Power ON) 

    To enter into Load default mode, first press SCROLL key & then switch ON the

    device, keep ►  key pressed until all LEDs are switched OFF except PGM LED & it

    displays load default.

    If the user wants to load default values press enter key. Here if ATC mode is alreadySelected ATC LED glows while MTC LED is off.

    PGM: When PGM key is pressed it abortsfrom load default function.

    ENT: When enter key is pressed defaultvalues are loaded.

    under normal conditions, to be free from faulty workmanship or defective materials for a

    period of ONE YEAR  from the date of original shipment. Global products repaired or

    replaced pursuant to this warranty shall be warranted for the un expired portion of the

    warranty applying to the original products. The liability of Global under this warranty shall

    exist provided that

    a) Global is promptly notified upon discovery of such defects by Buyer; and

    b) The defective product is returned to Global, transportation paid by Buyer or at

    Global’s discretion the said product is inspected and repaired at Buyer’s site; and

    c) Global’s examination of such product disclose that there was defect in Global material

    or workmanship; and

    d) Global nameplates and markings have not been altered or removed.

    e) The safety procedures mentioned in this manual are strictly adhered to.

    f) The unit is always used within the specifications and environment mentioned in this

    manual and never misused.

    In the event the defect is determined to be within the terms of this warranty, Global

    agrees to repair the product or the defective portion at no charge to Buyer and to pay for

    transportation back to Buyer. This warranty does not apply to consumable items like

    electrodes, conductivity cells, temperature sensors, fuses etc. or parts which in Global’s

    opinion have been subject to misuse, neglect, altered or damaged by accident or

    abnormal conditions of operation or handling.

    Global reserves the right to make changes in design and specifications without

    notice and without any obligation of such changes on units purchased. Until superseded

    or in contractual form, this warranty is expressly in lieu of all other liabilities andobligations on the part of Global Electronics.
