Song of Assembly1

Glory In The Highest TomlinYou are the first, You go before, You are the last, You reign forevermore

Your name’s in lights for all to see, the starry host declare Your glory

Glory in the highest, glory in the highest, glory in the highest

Apart from You there is no God, light of the world, the bright and morning starYour name will shine for all to see, You are the one, You are my glory

And no one else could ever compare to You, LordAll the earth together declares.....

Glory in the highest, glory in the highestGlory in the highest to You, Lord, to You, Lord

(Alternate chorus)All the earth will sing Your praise, the moon and stars, the sun and rain

Every nation will proclaim You are God and You will reignGlory, glory Hallelujah, glory, glory to You, Lord

Glory, glory Hallelujah, Hallelujah

Welcome and Preparation for WorshipThe enjoyment of [God] is the only happiness with which our souls can be satisfied. To go to heaven, fully to enjoy God,is infinitely better than the most pleasant accommodations here. Fathers and mothers, husbands, wives, or children, or thecompany of earthly friends, are but shadows; but God is the substance. These are but scattered beams, but God is the sun.These are but streams. But God is the ocean. ~ Jonathan Edwards

You make known to me the path of life; in your presence there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore. ~ Psalm 16

THE LORD GIVES US HIS PRESENCE

Call to Worship2 Psalm 81:1Sing aloud to God our strength; shout for joy to the God of Jacob!

Prayer of Adoration & Praise Based on Psalm 133

Hymn of Praise

Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee Van Dyke/ClowneyJoyful, joyful, we adore Thee, God of glory, Lord of love;

Hearts unfold like flowers before Thee, opening to the sun above.Melt the clouds of sin and sadness, drive the dark of doubt away;

Giver of immortal gladness, fill us with the light of day.

God of glory, power, mercy, all creation praises Thee;We, Thy creatures, would adore Thee now and through eternity.Saved to magnify Thy goodness, grant us strength to do Thy will;

With our acts as with our voices thy commandments to fulfill.

The Sacrament of Holy Baptism Brooke Makenzie & Drew Hardy Smith

Solemn Vows (PCA Book of Church Order §57-5)Do you acknowledge yourself to be a sinner in the sight of God, justly deserving His displeasure, and without hope except throughHis sovereign mercy?

Do you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as the Son of God, and Savior of sinners, and do you receive and rest upon Him alone forsalvation as He is offered in the Gospel?

Do you now resolve and promise, in humble reliance upon the grace of the Holy Spirit, that you will endeavor to live as becomesa follower of Christ?

Do you promise to support the Church in its worship and work to the best of your abilities?

Do you submit yourself to the government and discipline of the Church, and promise to study its purity and peace?

Prayer for the Smith Children Elder Mike McMahan

THE LORD GIVES US HIS GRACE

We Confess Our Sins TogetherOur Father, in your great power you raised Jesus from the dead on the third day, because death could never holdhim! And in your rich mercy you raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly places. You havere-created us in Christ Jesus, in order that we should walk in newness of life. But we confess that we have beenunfaithful to you. We have sinned against you every day in our thoughts, words, and deeds. Gracious God, have2 We believe that God always initiates with sinners, so we begin worship with his invitation and command to us to gather in His name.

compassion on us for the sake of your dear Son, our Savior Jesus Christ. And grant to us each day the grace of yourHoly Spirit that we would, more and more, die unto sin and live unto righteousness. ...Silent & Personalized Confessionof Sin... Amen!

Words of Assurance Romans 5:1Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Worship with Psalms, Hymns, and Spiritual Songs

Father, Long Before Creation BarnesFather, long before creation, Thou had’st chosen us in love,

And that love so deep, so moving, draws us close to Christ above.Still it keeps us, still it keeps us, firmly fixed in Christ alone.

God’s compassion is my story, is my boasting all the day;Mercy free and never failing, moves my will, directs my way.

God so loved us, God so loved us, that His only Son He gave.

Loving Father now before Thee, we will ever praise Thy love,And our songs will sound unceasing, ’til we reach our home above,

Giving glory, giving glory, to our God and to the LambGiving glory, giving glory, to our God and to the Lamb.

Holy Is the Lord, God Almighty TomlinHoly is the Lord God Almighty, the earth is filled with His glory!Holy is the Lord God Almighty, the earth is filled with His glory!

The earth is filled with His glory!

We stand and lift up our hands,For the joy of the Lord is our strength.We bow down and worship Him now,

How great, how awesome is He.And together we sing, everyone sing.

It is rising up all around,It’s the anthem of the Lord’s renown.

It’s rising up all around,It’s the anthem of the Lord’s renown.

Holy, Holy is the Lord Almighty, Holy, Holy

Satisfied DigernessAll my life long I had panted

For a drink from some cool springThat I hoped would quench the burning

Of the thirst I felt within.

Hallelujah! He has found me,The One my soul so long has craved!

Jesus satisfies all my longingsThrough his blood I now am saved.

Poor I was and sought for riches,Something that would satisfy;

But the dust I gathered ’round meOnly mocked my soul’s sad cry.

Well of water ever springing,Bread of Life so rich and free;

Untold wealth that never faileth,My Redeemer is to me.

THE LORD GIVES US HIS SACRAMENT

The Sacrament of the Lord’s SupperCommunion, also called The Lord’s Supper or Eucharist, is the family meal of Christians. We invite all committedfollowers of Jesus Christ to share in this sacrament: those who are baptized members of a congregation that proclaims thegospel, who are at peace with God and their neighbor, and who seek strength to live in a deeper communion with Jesus.If you are not a Christian, or you are not prepared to share in this meal, we encourage you to spend this time in prayer.We hope that this time is helpful to you as you consider your relationship with Jesus Christ and with his people, the Church.

The Power of the Cross Getty/TownendOh to see the dawn of the darkest day.

Christ on the road to Calvary.Tried by sinful men, torn and beaten then.

Nailed to a cross of wood.

This, the pow’r of the cross.Christ became sin for us.

Took the blame, bore the wrath.We stand forgiven at the cross.

Oh to see the pain written on Your face.Bearing the awesome weight of sin.Ev’ry bitter thought, ev’ry evil deedCrowning Your bloodstained brow.

Now the daylight flees, now the ground beneathQuakes as its maker bows His head.

Curtain torn in two, dead are raised to life.“Finished!” the vict’ry cry.

Oh to see my name written in Your wounds,For through Your suf'fring I am free.

Death is crushed to death, life is mine to live,Won through Your selfless love!

This the pow’r of the cross.Son of God slain for us.What a life, what a cost.

We stand forgiven at the cross.

DPC ANNOUNCEMENTSA Note From Elder Blake Temple

Dear Church Family,One of the many things that have impressed meabout the PCA, is that we have a system of churchgovernance that allows the local church to run theirchurch while at the same time providing help andoversight from Presbytery during times of need.Southwood Presbyterian Church’s congregation re-cently requested assistance from the Presbytery andas a consequence the Presbytery has appointed acommission of Teaching and Ruling Elders to serveSouthwood’s congregation as a temporary Session.The temporary Session will assist them in theirreconciliation efforts within their local church bodyand assist them in their process of nominating,training, and electing their next group of RulingElders. The temporary Session will be in place nolonger than (180) days, which began on April 1st.I am one of the Ruling Elders appointed to be onthe temporary Session for Southwood. As a result, Iwill not be in regular Sunday attendance at DPC, asI will need to be at Southwood in order to betterassist them for the next six months.So, I humbly ask that you pray for Southwoodduring this time as well as for wisdom and discern-ment for the temporary Session as we serve theirchurch. I will miss seeing you on Sunday morningsand the ability to be physically present with you aswe unite in the worship of our King.Thank you for your prayers and support.Blake

DPC UPDATE:DPC WORLD MISSIONS

Christ commands us to proclaim the Gospel to all the nations (Matt 28:19-20, Mark 16:15, Luke 24:45-47). A church is directly involved in God’s “World Mission” in its local area. However, we are also calledto support the spread of the gospel throughout the rest of the world, through both spiritual and materialsupport of churches and church planters.

DPC currently follows God’s calling to World Missions by supporting six missionaries: Daniel Cohee(church pastor in Taiwan); Joel and Judy Linton (church planter in Taiwan); Ray and Michelle Call (churchplanter in Mexico); Bill and Cheryl Nikides (pastor supporting churches in Muslim countries and commu-nities); Wayne and Amy Newsome (church planters in Japan); and Dr. Silvia Martinez (serves the Domin-ican Republic through health and medical ministries). We will be mailing prayer cards to the congregationshortly so that you can keep each in your prayers.

DPC’s philosophy is to significantly support a limited amount of missionaries (roughly 10% of their totalbudget) in order to 1) give the missionaries some stability and reduce the number of churches they needto stay in contact with and 2) to give our congregation the ability to develop deep relationships with ourmissionaries so that we can be a more real part of their lives and ministries. In order to stay in contactand develop those relationships, each Care Group is assigned a missionary family to keep in touch with,update the congregation on, pray for, and actively support.

A large part of what DPC has been involved with for many years are annual short term mission trips tothe Dominican Republic to work with Dr. Martinez. We ask that each member of DPC pray about andconsider going on one of these trips. God has used these trips to have a great impact in both the lives ofthe Dominicans and the Americans involved. Carol Godwin is leading several trips from May 28th to June25th. Please be in prayer for these trips.

Also, Dr. Jay Suggs and Dr. Dale Hambright are going on a medical missions trip to the Dominican RepublicApril 20-27. They also are raising money for the medicine they will be taking with them. Please be inprayer for them.

All World Missions support at DPC is funded through Faith Promise. This time every year the congrega-tion is asked to pledge in faith an amount to give to world missions through the year. This is money thatGod will provide above your tithe (sometimes it’s an unexpected windfall, sometimes it’s purposefullydoing without something throughout the year). Pray that God gives us the courage to follow His call tosupport those spreading His Gospel to all nations.

Please be in prayer about how you can support God's work around the world through giving throughFaith Promise, going on a short term trip, praying for our missionaries, or joining the DPC World MissionsTeam. If you would like to know more about the DPC World Missions Team please see any of the currentmembers: David and Kendra Mulligan; Greg and Debbie Smith; John Eyster; Scott and Julie Missildine;Lucinda Beddow; Wally and Linda Keasler; Wade and Leigh Littrell; Mike and Leslie Sexton.
