KEEP IT CLEAN Garbage and RecyclingThe change to the bylaw, that would

prohibit commercial properties from setting out trash for collection between 9:30 am and 4:30 pm daily, is expected to be passed by Council in September. Businesses using third party haulers to collect their garbage and recycling will need to contact them to ensure pickup times fall outside this range. This bylaw change is a key component to our Keep It Clean program and will better allow us to control the amount of waste left out on the streets during the day. More information will be coming shortly.

Storefront Windows An interesting item for those businesses/properties that have thermal pane windows – it has come to our attention that some of these newly installed windows are cracking because of signage that is placed within the window. According to one installer, “Close fitting blinds, curtains and signage (especially if dark in colour) can significantly increase the risk of thermal stress. If these items can be kept a few inches from the glass surface and be lighter in colour, there will be less chance of glass breakage”. This stress is caused from varying temperatures in different portions of the glass pane, and is even more likely to occur on buildings with a lot of sun exposure, and that have no awnings to protect the glass.
