Downloading and installing the Version 14 Update
Multi user sites, take note! Please run this update on your server first. Failing to do so will lead to a problematic update experience.
1. When you open up Sage Pastel Partner / Xpress Version 12, you will be presented
with the following screen:
2. Click on the Download button to start the download.
3. Once the file has been downloaded to your PC, click the Run Update button.
(If the download fails for whatever reason, please download the upgrade from our
FTP site. If not, please continue with the installation and data migration as outlined
in the steps below).
4. This will start the update installation:
5. Click the Next button to continue.
6. Please read through the Licence Agreement, and select I accept the terms in the
licence agreement to continue with the installation. Click the Next button.
7. On the Setup Type screen, you will have the option to do a Typical or Custom
installation. If you select the Typical option, the companies and registration will
automatically migrate to Version 14. If you select the Custom option, you have the
option not to migrate companies and to select additional features. After making your
selection, click the Next button to continue.
8. If you do not want to migrate to Version 14 select the option Install Sage Pastel
Accounting Version 14 without migrating Version 12 and click the Next button to
continue.
9. You will receive the following screen if you are migrating the Version 12 companies
and registration to Version 14:
10. Once you have read through the migration tips, click the Next button to continue.
11. If the computer that you are on is the server computer, the following screen is
displayed:
12. Select the Share the Pastel folder option if you would like to give full access to all
users on the network. If you are unsure about this option, please contact your
network administrator.
13. If you have Pervasive Workgroup installed and the Registration Server is not the
computer you are busy installing on, click on the Change… button next to the
Partner Version 14 Registration Folder option and browse to the Registration folder
on the server (mapped drive required).
14. The Change Registration Folder screen is displayed. Browse for the Version 14
Registration folder on an existing mapped drives or create a new map drive to the
Version 14 share on the server.
15. If you have Pervasive Client installed, click on the Change… button next to the Partner
Version 14 Registration Folder option and browse to the Registration folder on the
server (mapped drive required). Confirm that the Partner Version 12 Mapped Drive
letter is correct and click the Next button.
16. If the Partner Version 14 Registration Folder is invalid, you will get the following error
message:
17. The following screen is displayed if proxy authentication is required to retrieve the
registration information. Select the Don’t register Sage Pastel Accounting Version 14
automatically. Only migrate data option. Accounting Version 14 will not be registered
but all the companies (data) will still be migrated.
18. If you do not have an internet connection, you will not be able to do the automatic
registration of Version 14. Only the companies will be migrated. Select the Don’t
register Sage Pastel Accounting Version 14 automatically. Only migrate data. option
and then click the Next button to continue.
19. The following screen will be displayed if:
The Version 12 Base Serial Number used in the package is not found or does not
match our records (incorrectly entered) The migration to Version 14 was done before and the Registration folder was
removed. Restore the folder to its original location and run the install again. Version 12 does not qualify for the upgrade.
20. Enter the correct serial number and click the Validate button. Select Don’t register
Sage Pastel Accounting Version 14 automatically. Only migrate data. Accounting
Version 14 will not be registered but all the companies (data) will still be migrated.
Click the Next button to continue.
21. If your Version 12 registration details are not confirmed on the Sage Pastel
database, you will receive the following error message and you will need to contact
the Sage Pastel Client Services Department.
22. Confirm that the information is correct on the Registration Information screen and
click the Next button to continue.
23. A list of all current companies will be displayed. If there are multiple tabs, there are
companies in other folders than the default company folder that can be migrated. You
can deselect a company if you wish not to migrate the company to Sage Pastel Version
14. A tab will display for each Version 12 location. Select the tab to view or change the
location for all the companies. The Change button will change the location for all the
companies to the New Location for the tab you are on. Once you have made your
selections, click the Next button to continue with the installation and to migrate all your
selected companies to Sage Pastel Accounting Version 14.
