VIOLIN STRINGSLarsen Violin strings offer a warm, yet direct and determined sound. They quickly reach tuning stability and deliver excellent projection. Larsen Violin strings are reliable and highly suitable for bright sounding instruments in need of extra warmth.

The Larsen E string is made of carbon steel. The A, D and G strings are made using a multi-filament nylon core. The A string is wound with precision rolled aluminium flat wire and the D and G strings with pure silver.

Larsen Violin strings are available in three tensions, soft, medium and strong.

The Tzigane® G, D and A strings are made using a multi- filament nylon core. The G and C strings are wound with precision rolled pure silver flat wire, the A string with alu-minium. The E string is made of a unique carbon steel.

The strings are offered in three tensions, soft, mediumand strong. The strong tension strings offer the most vol-ume and resistance to the bow. For very bright soundingviolins, Tzigane® strong tension is the ideal choice.

With Virtuoso we are also redefining musical qualities like subtlety and clarity as ideals for sound unprecedented with standard synthetic core strings and you will experience an astonishing string response and ease of playability.

The Virtuoso® E string is made using a unique carbon steel, while the A, D and G strings build on a new, pioneering synthetic multi-filament core. The A string is wound with precision rolled aluminium flat wire, the D and G strings with pure silver.

We offer Larsen Virtuoso® strings in two tensions, medium and strong. Virtuoso® medium and strong are both somewhat lower in tension than their conventional equivalent gauges. The medium tension strings show extraordinary string response, playability and sound modulation capability. The strong version is more focused in sound, more soloistic and with higher resistance to the bow.

Virtuoso® strings are a great choice for dark to neutral sounding instruments where they offer a beautiful, warm sound with great projection. And, given their moderate tension, they lend particular benefit to older instruments.

VIOLA STRINGSLarsen Viola strings offer an intense, deep and warmsound. These strings are long lasting with great responseand playability. Our Viola A string is particularly recogniseddue to its unparalleled versatility and projection.The C, G and D strings are recommended in particular forbright sounding instruments.

Our Viola A string is made on a solid steel core. It is wound with precision rolled stainless steel flat wire. The C, G and D strings are made with a unique multi-filament nylon core. We use windings of precision rolled silver flatwire for the C and G strings, and aluminium for theD string.

All four strings are offered in two tensions, medium andstrong, the A string is also available in soft. The strongtension strings offer more volume and higher resistanceto the bow.

CELLO STRINGSLarsen Fractional Cello strings are designed especially for smaller instruments. For the first time ever, this set of strings enables uncompromised power and sound quality similar to that of full sized instruments. Their warm, rich and focused sound combined with easy string response and high tuning stability, makes these strings comparable to professional full-size cello strings.

The A and D strings have a solid steel core and are wound with stainless steel flat wire. They offer the same beautiful warmth and projection known from our prized 4/4 Larsen A and Ds. The G and C strings are based on concentric multi-stranded steel cores and wound with high grade Tungesten. Our multi-stranded steel cores are expensive to produce, but generate a warm and focused sound with plenty of power and personality.

CELLO STRINGSThe prized range of Larsen standard cello strings is completed by a SOLOIST’S EDITION, developed for the demanding soloist player. In comparison to the regular Larsen Cello strings, these strings offer increased projection, focus and volume, especially at the higher harmonics.

The SOLOIST’S EDITION includes A, D and G strings, offered in the three tensions, soft, medium and strong. The tension gauges are somewhat above the corresponding regular Larsen Cello strings.

The SOLOIST’S EDITION strings are based on solid steel cores, different in properties and dimensions from their regular counterparts. The A and D strings are wound with precision rolled stainless steel flat wire, the G string with Tungesten.

We are extremely proud to present our new Cello Magnacore® A and D strings, complementing our already popular Magnacore® G and C strings in a new and perfect way.

With the Magnacore® A and D strings we added a lovely edge to the sound, nice and bright so it carries but still retaining that famous Larsen roundness. These strings offer a wide variety ofsound colours from bright to dark combined with a new clarity and brilliance: a truly singing sound. The Magnacore® A and D strings show excellent resonance and response in all registers,in fortissimo, pianissimo and light spiccato. Last but not least, these strings have a distinctly improved lifetime in performance.

The Magnacore® A and D are made on a solid steel core and wound with high quality precision rolled flat wire. We produce the Magnacore® A and D strings in two tensions, medium and strong. The medium tension strings are designed for a perfect fit with our Magnacore® G and Cmedium strings and the strong tension combination has been developed to complement our Magnacore® G and C strong strings.

On celli where the combination Magnacore® C strong and G medium is optimal, we recommend choosing the A and D medium strings. Compared to the medium tension string, the strong Magnacore® are even more voluminousand powerful. If necessary, the Magnacore® A strong string can easily be combined with the medium C, G and D strings.

Recommended for all celli, especially also for darker / deeper sounding in-struments

Influence Of String Tension On Sound

• Bridge pressure increases

• The instrument sounds louder and experiences often - but depending of the specificinstrument - more fully in sound (deeper frequencies are amplified; compare soft, medium, strong)

• Increasing the tension of one string influences usually the sound characteristic of theother strings

• The string risks to overpower the instrument / close the sound

• Effect of too high string tension increases with increasing age of the instrument

Note:• The lifetime of the instrument decreases when a critical bridge pressure is exceeded

• Risk to damage the instrument, especially older instruments
