FA Cup Extra preliminary Round
Three first half-goals earned Kirby Muxloe a place in the next round as they beat Anstey Nomads 3-0 to maintain
their 100% start to the season. Stourport Swifts travelled to Division 1 leaders Atherstone Town and progressed to
the next round with a 3-1 victory. All the goals came in the second half. Boldmere St Michaels put their league form
behind them to beat Step 4 Daventry Town 3-1 at the Trevor Brown Memorial Ground. Owen Parry scored twice to
send the Mikes through to an away tie at Stourport. Long Eaton United went goal crazy at Bottesford Town, winning
the tie 8-2. Niall Towle again scored four and there were braces for David Kolodynski and James Shaw. The big
Coventry derby ended in a 1-1 draw between Sphinx and United at Sphinx Drive. A crowd of 480 saw former Sphinx
man equalise for United 4 minutes from time to send the game to a replay. A goal four minutes into added time
from Mike Potts earned Gresley a replay with a 1-1 draw at Dunkirk. Leicester Road edged a 5-goal thriller at Hanley
Town, winning 3-2 with both sides missing spot kicks, Nuno Gomes netted the all-important winner to send The
Road through to a tough tie at Bromsgrove Sporting. Haughmond came from behind to beat league rivals Walsall
Wood 3-2 at Shrewsbury Sports Village. Garfield Robinson scored twice for the Wood, but it was Mike Owen that got
the Mond’s all important third goal. Heather St Johns welcomed Wolverhampton Sporting Community to St John’s
Park, and they went through with goals at the end of each half, 2-0 the final score. Lichfield City pulled off a giant
killing beating Highgate United 3-2 at The City Ground. Luke Childs was the star for City scoring all three goals to
earn them a home tie with Haughmond. Lye Town travelled to Lutterworth Town and became the first MFL side
knocked out of the competition by a side from another league as they were beaten 3-0. AFC Wulfrunians upset the
form book to win 2-0 at Racing Club Warwick, Chris Knight and Jumaane Meggoe on target. Romulus and
Wolverhampton Casuals fought out a goalless draw at Castle Vale Stadium to set up an intriguing replay at Brinsford
Lane. South Normanton Athletic welcomed neighbours Selston to the MJ Stadium and it was the Shiners that
progressed with a comfortable 5-0 win. Richard Hanslow scored twice as Selston finished the game with 10 men.
Game of the round was at The Aspray Arena as Sporting Khalsa eventually made it into the next round beating
Rugby Town 5-4. Khalsa led 2-0, Rugby then led 4-2 before the home side turned it round again. Kieran Fitzgerald
scored twice for Rugby with Josh McKenzie and Sean Williams bagging braces for Khalsa. Tividale edged out
Wednesfield at The Beeches, Jake Webb’s late goal earning Tividale a 2-1 win.
A brace from Jordan Harrison helped Worcester City to a 4-1 win over Stone Old Alleynians at Victoria Ground. OAs
had taken the lead after 90 seconds, but City were the more clinical of the two sides as they booked their place in
the next round.
A goal two minutes from the end of extra time sent Romulus through to the next round after a 2-1 win at
Wolverhampton Casuals. There was very little to separate the sides until Willis bundled the ball in at the far post
with the home side adamant that he was in an offside position.
A goal on the half-hour mark from Lawrence Rawlings settled the Coventry derby in respect of Coventry Sphinx who
beat Coventry United 1-0. United missed a penalty 20 minutes from time and saw a player red carded.

Two sides that have made fine starts to the season meet at The Coppice as Highgate United defend their 100%
record against Newark Flowserve. Sporting Khalsa are the only other side with a 100% league record and they
welcome Coventry Sphinx to Allpay Park. Long Eaton United have been in blistering goal scoring form and they
travel to AFC Wulfrunians who are looking for their first points of the season. The two sides promoted from Division
1 last season meet at St Johns Park with Heather St Johns hosting Racing Club Warwick. With both sides having
made excellent starts, this should be an excellent game. Boldmere St Michaels have had a difficult start to the
league campaign and they travel to Worcester City looking for their first points of the season. Gresley have also
found it tough on their relegation to the MFL and they welcome Tividale to the Moat Ground. Walsall Wood host

season and they host Lye Town who have also made a slow start. This game takes place at South Normanton
Athletic. Stourport Swifts welcome Coventry United to Walshes Meadow and there is unlikely to be much between
