The Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) is
continuing to moveforward with the Tier 1 analysis evaluation. The
June 3rd deadline to receiveevaluation scores on the 19 concept
renement options has not changed.
The DOTD reali!es that a signicant community involvement
process regardingneigh"orhood revitali!ation strategies in corridor
#evels $ and 3 led to the
development of potential revisions to two series of concept
renement options (%and & series) that were presented "y the
'vangeline orridor nitiative (') team tothe mem"ers of the
community on *riday+ ,ay $-. e also reali!e that there isinterest
within some parts of the community to further e/plore those
potentialrevisions. 0lease eep in mind that potential revisions to
a concept do not create anew concept which must then "e evaluated
under Tier 1. e already have anum"er of renement concept options
that are di2cult to distinguish from oneanother. To treat every
revision as a new concept+ particularly given the need torespect
our agreed upon schedule+ could lead to an unmanagea"le num"er
ofconcept renements and continual delays in moving through the
process. Thewor completed during the ' design charrette+ more
specically+ the potentialmodications to the & series option 4
&'+ can "e evaluated within the consideration
of the & series options5 & 64'+ provided those concept
renements advance in thisprocess. The same holds true for the
potential modications to the % series option.
t is important to note that the '7s potential revisions to
concept renementoptions (% and & series)+ which were a
"yproduct of developing neigh"orhoodrevitali!ation strategies in
corridor #evels $ and 3+ have not "een technically vetted"y the
DOTD or the *ederal 8ighway dministration (*8). 'ven though
theproposed revisions were not consistent with the stated goals of
the T:'; grant andwere outside of the responsi"ilities of the ' as
outlined in the ' pu"licinformation hy?+ the DOTD@#afayetteonnector

ideas inthe coming wees should one or more of the % or & series
options advance in theprocess.
