In fact, 57% of our sales since 2016 have been to buyers from outside of the South West region. The most challenging aspect of the market has been – and continues to be – a relative shortage of new property being offered for sale in the most popular towns and villages. In the last few weeks, however, we have seen an uptick in new listings, which should help underpin activity in 2018.” Market update Property prices in Dorset and South Somerset rose by 1.6% between January and March 2018 and have climbed 3.5% over the last 12 months, according to Knight Frank data. Price growth has eased slightly over the past two years, in line with a wider trend seen across the UK. Prime markets, in particular, have had to adjust to higher rates of stamp duty, as well as political uncertainty. However, while this may be the case, our figures suggest that underlying demand remains robust.
