Domopan has proudly played a big role in the development of Qatar. In the first three years since the launch of our company, our turnover grew an incredible 20-fold. As of the beginning of 2012, we have successfully supplied over a million square meters of Domo Gypsum – an incredible amount, considering that we have only been involved in the market for less than five years.

SURFACE AND WALL FINISH

Blocks can be set into each other with complete precision using groove and tongue. Get a smooth and picture perfect finish when you erect the walls.

The surfaces don’t require plaster as the blocks are filled / smoothed out completely only in the portions with high optical demands. Once the walls are completely dry they are ready for use.

INSTALLATIONS

DOOR OPENINGS

Depending on their size and position, special reinforcing is necessary. For opening over 1m width pre-galvanized steel lintel (material thickness 2mm) has proved effective as lintel reinforcement. Bond into the wall up to 50cm on both sides of the opening.

COATING USING PAINTS OR WALLPAPER

Walls are to be primed before being coated with paint or covered with wallpaper, in order to achieve an even absorbency of the wall surface. All normal dispersion latex, oil and enamel paint can be used as coating.

SURFACE COVERING USING TILES

Walls with front facing tiles or natural stones do not require to be filled or smoothed, including the area of joints, you need only give a clean finish to the remaining tile adhesive.

FIRE-RESISTANT STRUCTURE

Gypsum is not only a mineral, but also a non-combustible building material (Building material Class A1 in accordance with DIN 4102). Gypsum decreases the thermal load in the building, with its special crystal structure, it protects against the spread of fire and proves to be highly-effective fire protection.

Gypsum as a fire-resistant material itself lasts for up to more than 2 hours.

In addition, it forms a protective vapour veil. The surface temperature on the side away from the fire increases only slightly. The fire protection effect is most pronounced on the thicker layer of the solid.

Partition walls with fire protection requirements:

For interior partition walls, certain fire protection requirements can be laid down in the respective [German] Federal State Building Ordinances [LBO], especially if they border corridors and stairwells.

Partition walls and facings made up from gypsum blocks are, classified in accordance with DIN 4102-4. The values given are achieved without plaster layers. Electrical installations such as switches or sockets can be installed in the wall without limiting the fire protection; however, they may not be directly opposite to each other on both sides of the wall.

ADHESIVE COMPOUND PREPARATION:

Add adhesive compound into 3 – 4 liters of water and mix until you get a homogenous mixture. The mixture should be good for use within 60 minutes.

SINGLE LEAF WALL:

Begin chipping the adjacent column to ensure a strong connection between the gypsum walls and column.

Apply the adhesive compound bed on the face of gypsum block and work face-fit.

It is recommended that the last row of gypsum blocks be placed 1 – 2 cm (as per project requirement) below the ceiling. Fill all gaps completely with fire sealant and then cover it with adhesive compound for maximum insulation.

Start the second row with 30 cm pieces to ensure the holes match. In case of hollow blocks, this results in easy piping and wiring installation through the connected cavities.

Put the block with tongue upwards to get a stronger wall, then complete the first row the same way.

Correct the position of your block using a rubber hammer and level it.

The factoryEnvironmental responsibility has been important to us since day one. In fact, our factory was originally designed to meet all environmental and sustainably standards. As a result, we hold an ISO 14001:2004 certificate, testament to the fact that our actions minimize the impact on our immediate environment. We also went a step further and are currently affiliated members of GORD and associate members of QGBC – another sign of our commitment to green.

The productNot only is Domo Block-G built to the highest of standards, but it also meets stringent environmental regulations. Upon client request, our blocks can be made of 100% of recyclable gypsum. In addition, we leave nothing to waste as older blocks are also recycled into our manufacturing flow. Once the product leaves our factory and is installed in buildings and homes, it also adds to the environmental efficiency of the structures themselves by providing insulation from the searing desert heat – resulting in less air conditioning usage and consequently, lower CO2 emissions.
