Where is the Dominican Republic?
It is in the northern hemisphere
It is located on Hispaniola with Haiti
It is in the Caribbean Ocean, and in the Atlantic Ocean
Western hemisphere
What is the Climate There?
It is very hot there
They have a little breeze
The area is below sea level
Their rainy season is
from May to November
Natural Resources
They use goats for their milk
They use pigs for food and for a lot of things like ribs, meat, bacon, ham, and bologna
Amber and other natural gems to make jewelry- they sell them out of the country
They have a lot of expensive things that they sell to other countries
They grow coffee, cocoa, bananas, oranges, lettuce, peanuts, plantains, tomatoes, and tobacco
They fish for their food and catch tuna, cod, and shark
What Do They Wear?
They wear uniforms to school every day
They wear and design their own clothes
What Holidays do they Celebrate?
Celebrate Saints Day – they have a feast and a parade and a festival
Christmas – they go to Mass ( church) on Christmas Eve, have large meals, big parties, dancing, exchange gifts
El Carnival – Celebrated in month of February, they all dress up in costumes that are scary and parade down the streets, they close up the roads to celebrate
Life as a kid Involved in sports
Sell art in their neighborhoods at around 6:00 at night
Girls have very huge special 16th birthday parties
Kids help their parents work and make their own houses out of bricks and sticks
Kids make their own dolls
When kids go to fancy parties, they get a fitter to sew them a special dress
Population
The Dominican Republic has 10 million people living there

The red means the blood of those who have died
The blue stands for the sky
The white symbolizes the sand

Alot of people like to go visit a statue Christopher Columbus
It stands in Santo Domingo
The Spanish language was brought to Hispaniola following Christopher Columbus’ arrival in 1492

They play a lot of games using their hands
