The treatment coverage of the wastewater generated in these municipalities is about 30%.

Currently, CORAASAN has pending projects that would increase coverage about 40% of wastewater treatment from municipalities of Santiago de Los Caballeros, Licey, Tamboril and Puñal.

The remaining municipalities of the province of Santiago that are not included in this report do not have sewer system or WWTP.

By 2014 it is estimated that the flow rate in the existing collecting sewer sanitary system mainly in Santiago de los Caballeros and Towns Tamboril is about 155,000 m3/day (about 1800 lt / sec), for a collection coverage of estimated population of about 600,000 inhabitants.

The main barrier is a financial issue, as the funds collected by the institution are insufficient to develop and implement projects to expand at the rate of population growth.
