WHAT IS THE LEAD INNOVATION STUDIO

For some students in the Park Hill School District high school looks very different Students at the LEAD Innovation Studio experience a full-day program in a leased space in a local office building where they immerse themselves in a flexible personalized learning environment focused on problem-solving skills project-based learning and professional experiences Next school year we will open LEADs own building which is designed for this unique program

All LEAD students get mentors to help them navigate their education At LEAD students take an active role in their learning while teachers provide the support all students need Cutting-edge technology allows students to work toward their individual goals with teachers facilitating

WHICH STUDENTS ATTEND THE LEAD INNOVATION STUDIO

The schools personalized approach appeals to students of all backgrounds and with all kinds of interests and goals In the 2020-2021 school year any student will be able to attend LEAD which mirrors the districts student population as a whole The programs personalized nature supports all students LEAD provides services for English learners and students with 504s and IEPs and it offers many advanced courses including AP and dual credit

WHAT DO CLASSES LOOK LIKE AT LEAD

LEAD students take the same classes our two high schools offer However our instructional model emphasizes project-based problem-based and professional-based learning (PBL) experiences along with personalized learning We support students through regular individual meetings with a mentor who is a teacher and a facilitator with an emphasis on goal setting and skill development

WHAT DOES STUDENT LIFE LOOK LIKE AT LEAD

While students will take all their classes at the LEAD Innovation Studio they will still be Park Hill High School Trojans or Park Hill South Panthers and they will be able to participate in extracurricular activities at their home high schools such as band sports and dances LEAD also offers a number of student clubs and activities assemblies and opportunities to show school spirit

LEAD emphasizes a connection to community- this includes the LEAD community the Park Hill and Park Hill South high schools communities and the local and global communities LEAD students work extensively with local non-profits and engage in project work focused on global issues
