MUSIC MINISTRY The OLYN music ministry team shares their joyful voices with people living in Assisted Living Facilities (ALFs). Many members of our community live in ALFs and do not have the opportunity or ability to attend worship service or hear the beautiful hymns that celebrate and praise our Lord. Music appears often in the writings of
the old and new testaments and throughout church history music and instruments have played a pivotal role in communal worship of our Lord. Psalm 92:1 – It is good to praise the Lord and make music to your name, O Most High. What a joy it is to share the old hymns with those that are no longer as mobile as they once were. The music ministry team visits ALFs in Vero Beach on OLYN Day. And on the third Friday of each month the team gathers to sing with the ALF residents. The residents receive song sheets and are encouraged to sing along as the music ministry team leads the choruses to familiar and favorite hymns and songs. The singing of hymns and other songs brings back fond memories and the joyous expression on everyone’s face evidences God’s presence. The Music Ministry Team serves members of our community in the following ways: Regularly visiting and singing hymns and favorite songs to ALF audiences Leading ALF residents to join in the singing of favorite hymns and songs Visited ALFs along with members of the Card Ministry to show ALF residents love
and compassion as they received handmade cards while listening to beautiful music
