IDENTIFIERS *Tennessee
ABSTRACTStatistical information is presented regarding high
school graduates in Tennessee. Data of interest to planners,
educators, and employers are presented in a county summary table
followed by statewide totals and county tables presented
alphabetically. Data is presented for numbers of schools and
graduates, the number of students continuing education, the 1993
percentage of students continuing education, and the 1992 percentage
of students continuing education. The information is based on a
survey of public and accredited private schools that enroll high
school students. Nearly 8% of graduates attended private schools. Of
this group, about 96.2% expected to continue their education, while
about 60.8% of public school graduates expected to continue. Almost
777 of graduates from the state's 4 largest counties expected to
continue their educations, but only 56.2% from the remaining 91
counties and 4 special schools expected to continue. Dropout figures
as counted by many schools might include students who transferred to
other schools. (SLD)
