Introduction
• A device is multi-band capable if the value of its local MIB variable dot11MultibandImplemented is true.
• The multi-band capable MM-Wave device can operate on both 60GHz and 2.4GHz or/and 5GHz frequency band.
• Beamforming(BF) is a mechanism that is used by a pair of STAs to achieve the necessary DMG link budget for subsequent communication.
• Multi-band capable MM-Wave device can send feedback information such as Initiator Sector Sweep (ISS) Sector ID via 2.4GHz or 5GHz frequency band MAC and PHY layer to speed up the BF training procedure to setup DMG link.

Beamforming Training Procedure for 802.11ad
• BF training is a bidirectional sequence of BF training frame transmissions that uses sector sweep and provides the necessary signaling to allow each STA to determine appropriate antenna system settings for both transmission and reception.

Beamforming training procedure for 802.11ad• An example of 802.11ad BF training procedure:
Step1: Initiator Sector Sweep Phase
The initiator (STA1) transmits Initiator Sector Sweep (ISS) frame with corresponding
Sector ID to all sectors. Meanwhile, The responder (STA2) receives the ISS frame sent by STA1.
Step2: Responder Sector Sweep Phase
The STA2 transmits Responder Sector Sweep (RSS) frame with corresponding sector ID to all sectors. Once the STA1 receives the RSS frame sent by STA2, both two STAs will know the location of each other and the appropriate antenna system settings for both transmission and reception.

A Simplified method for Beamforming Training Procedure for Multi-Band Capable MM-Wave Device
• For multi-band MM-Wave Device, once receiving the ISS frame sent by STA1 in Step 1, the STA2 can immediately sends feedback information with Initiator Sector Sweep (ISS) Sector ID to STA1 via 2.4GHz or 5GHz frequency band MAC and PHY layer.
• So, the Step 2 Responder Sector Sweep phase can be omitted.
• Call for comments and suggestion for further study.
