Participants  All 200 participants (age range: 23 – 56 years, all male) will be

professional musicians playing and writing music for at least

years.

One hundred of those will be American, speaking English a

L1 and fluent French as their L2 (this will be verified in adv

Method

MaterialsI will present a list consisting of a thousand different single syllable w

large group of both French and American participants, All the while m

their cortical activity using an electroencephalogram (EEG) recording

obtained from 19 scalp electrodes, mounted in an elastic cap and locat

standard positions of the International 10/20 system.

 The goal of this seemingly random act is to create a list of word coup

 when read to both French and Americans in their native language crea

to non existent neural reaction.

 The words chosen will be used to create phrases, which will be given a
