What are crunches?
According to Wikipedia. The crunch is one of the most common abdominal exercises. It primarily works the rectus abdominal muscle. A crunch begins with lying down face up on the floor with knees bent. The movement starts when you curl the shoulders towards the pelvis. The hands can be behind or beside the neck or crossed over the chest.
Do Crunches help burn Stomach Fat?
No, crunches only do not burn stomach fat. This job of burning stomach fat is not only a task for crunches; it requires the input of other exercises like biking and swimming. If you do lot of exercises and eat lot of junks, you have the tendency of adding more weigh; the difference will be that you will be fit.
Crunches and sit ups
Both Crunches and sit ups are great exercises for both sexes. The difference between Crunches and sit-ups is that instead of lifting your entire back off the floor in sit up, you only lift your upper back.

• Vertical Leg CrunchStill in the lying position and facing up. Put legs straight up, slightly bent with knees crossed. Keep your hands to your sides. Contract the abs to lift your shoulder blades off the floor toward your feet. Lower it slowly. Repeat as many times as possible.
• Side crunchIn this case, you follow the steps for regular crunches, but lean both legs to one side (still bent, knees together, close to floor). Lift both shoulders off the ground simultaneously like in a regular crunch. Do some crunches on one side, then move your legs over to the other side and repeat.
• Twist crunchIt is almost like the regular crunch, except that instead of lifting both shoulders off the ground equally, you lift each shoulder towards in the opposite direction that is the left shoulder towards right and the right shoulder towards left.
• Cable crunchStand and hold onto the cablePull the weight down by curling your back and engaging your abs.
Not Only Crunches
Exercising just one area of your body, such as doing crunches to get rid of belly fat, won't lead to fat reduction only in that area. More also, doing any exercise to burn calories will help you lose fat from your whole body.
