Commencement 1st August , 2017 ( Tentative ) Eligibility Academics a) I) Pass in 10+2 examination from a recognized Board with Physics,
Chemistry & Mathematics (PCM) with not less than 60% marks in PCM. II) Students who have appeared for 10+2 examination, waiting for results are eligible to apply & they will qualify for admission, subject to their securing minimum 180 marks in PCM (60%).
OR b) Pass in B. Sc. With Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics with not less than
60% marks in final year from a recognized university. Physics should be an individual subject in one of the years in B. Sc.
OR c) Great opportunity to students, who are present studying in1st or 2nd
year B. Sc. if they have scored minimum with 60% in PCM in Class XII. OR d) B. E. /B. Tech degree from I.I.T. or from a college recognized by AICTE
Marks not less than 50% in final year AND Minimum 50% in English subject as a separate subject, at either 10th or 12th Standard or in Degree, conducted by a recognized Board or University.

1. Course is approved by some of the nationalized banks for educational loan and payment of entire fees/expenses will be solely the responsibility of candidate. 2. As per recent RBI guidelines you have to apply for educational loan in the Nationalized Bank at the place where you are presently residing. 3. We will help you in providing documents (D.G. Approval, Sponsorship Letter, etc.) required for availing educational loan from the bank. MEDICAL: Physical Standards:
1. Candidates should be healthy and physically fit for sea service as per STCW 2010/MS Medical rules 2000, and all its amendments, as applicable to seafarers.
2. Candidates will have to undergo a full medical checkup through our Panel Doctor & approved by D.G. Shipping.

Eyesight:
1. 6/6 in each eye without visual aids. 2. Normal colour vision. 3. Candidates will have to undergo a full eyesight test by a Company Medical Officer and or Eye
Sight Test by Mercantile Marine Department, Government of India (if required). Admission Procedure:
After applying online, the company will inform the eligible candidates about the time and date of
the Online Test by an email through our assessment partners “Aspiring Minds”.

Important Information: Indian Maritime University Computer-‐based CET (online)
Common Entrance Test (CET) is conducted by IMU (Indian Maritime University, Chennai, Govt. of India) all over India.
IMU – CET Subjects: (30 questions each) 10 + 2 Level:
I. English II. General Knowledge III. Reasoning Aptitude IV. Physics V. Mathematics VI. Chemistry Total 3 hours paper 180 marks for all the six subjects combined. Candidates are requested to visit IMU’s website (www.imu.edu.in) periodically to keep track of new announcements and changes if any. GE Shipping shall not be responsible if any candidate is put to hardship because he/she did not keep himself abreast of the latest developments. The Computer-‐based CET for IMU’s UG programme is scheduled by IMU and will be announced on their website. Please note:
All correspondence with GES for August batch 2017 shall be made via Email only at [email protected] Please ensure that you enter your email ID correctly while filling Online Application Form on our website “www.geinstitute.com”. Eligible candidates, who do not receive call letters/ intimation for examination, are required to take print of hall ticket from university website [ www.imu.edu.in ] & report along with proper identification and passport size photograph to their respective selected examination centers on the day of the examination. Candidates those who are sponsored, qualified in IMU – CET, will be called by GE Shipping for interview, medical and final selection at Mumbai / Delhi.
The Company will not provide any lodging, boarding, travelling or any other incidental expenses to the candidates incurred during admission process.
The Company at its discretion may change the venue after giving due notice in advance.

How to apply:
Applicants who meet the eligibility criteria should apply by filling the Online Application Form. The Application should be submitted in the format given in the website only, with one recent passport size photograph pasted neatly in the right hand top corner

IN CASE OF DEMAND DRAFT
A Demand Draft of Rs. 1500/-‐ (Rupees One Thousand Five Hundred Only) drawn on a Mumbai branch of any Nationalised Bank crossed “A/c Payee Only” and payable to “The Great Eastern Shipping Co. Ltd., Mumbai” must be enclosed with the Application Form. Any Application received without the Demand Draft or for lesser amount will not be considered.
Applicant must write his name in CAPITALS & (DNS/TNOC course) on the reverse of the Demand
Draft.
Duly completed copy of Online Application Form along with the Demand Draft should be sent in a sealed envelope superscripted as “Application for Diploma in Nautical Science” to Mr. Arun More, Deputy Manager – Placement & Training. Duly completed Application for the 1st August, 2017 batch should reach us not later than (5th May 2017) provided you have already registered for the IMU CET on their website.
Communication regarding the Interview date and time will be conveyed to the applicants by email only after successful completion of the Online Test by the candidate.

Career prospects on successful completion of DNS/TNOC course:
The candidates are eligible to join shipping companies as Third Officers drawing attractive remuneration post obtaining BSc. Nautical Science degree through INDIAN MARITIME UNIVERSITY and Second Mate (FG) Certificate of Competency by D.G. Shipping. With further experience at sea and on obtaining higher Certificates of Competency, they will have the opportunity to rise to the rank of Captain of the Ship. General Instructions.
1. The Applicants are responsible to ensure that they fulfil the eligibility criteria, regarding educational qualifications, MMPE test, age and eyesight.
2. Eligibility criteria for admission to the course are as per the guidelines issued of the Directorate
General of Shipping and hence are not changeable. 3. If any false / incorrect information furnished by the Applicant is detected at any stage, his/her
candidature will not be considered and if selected, he will be removed from the training course and course fees will be forfeited
4. Course fees, advance fees, Examination fees once paid, will not be refunded, partly or
otherwise, under any circumstances. 5. As the applications are processed by a computerised system, it is essential that the application be
forwarded strictly in accordance with the prescribed format.
6. Duly filled in Application Form should have one photograph pasted and Demand Draft attached. Originals/photocopies of certificates etc. should not be sent with the application form.
7. All fields in the Online Application Form should be filled with correct details and Application number should be noted by the candidate for all future reference.
8. Candidates should possess at least Twelve (12) recent passport size photographs (front view) and
these photographs only must be used on Application Form, Interview, Medical Examination, training etc. Any change of photograph will disqualify the Candidate.
9. Candidates, at the time of interview, will be required to produce original copies of proof of age,
Degree Certificate, HSC Certificate or equivalent, SSC Certificate or equivalent, where applicable from Govt. recognized board/universities.

Note:
The Offer of admission for Pre-‐Sea Training and Shipboard Training by GES shall not be considered as guarantee of employment on completion of such training. However, in the event of GES offering employment after passing the Examination, the candidate shall agree to be bound to accept our employment and serve on our vessels for a period of three years. This is a requirement as per the Gazette Notification S.O.2132 (E) issued on December 12, 2007 by Govt. of India.
