Advantages of a unique Technology3D Direct Metal Printing

DMT® (laser-aided Direct Metal Tooling)DMT® 3D Metal Printing Technology was developed by InnsTek. It is one of the most innovative leading edge technologies. A high-efficiency fibre laser is processing a contour upon a base plate melting metal powder into this contour. The metal powder is directly supplied by a very special feeding system. This enables to manufacture complex 3D shapes structure. The InssTek way of 3D direct metal printing is one of the latest and most productive metal printing technologies, classified as "Directed Energy Disposition" (according to ASTM-Standard). Using commercially available metal powders the DMT® 3D Metal Printing Technology is more economic compared to the known "Powder Bed Fusion Technology". The metal powder is feeded constantly during the printing process, melted by the laser beam and reinforced immediately. The microscopic parts structure has a density of 99.97% and doesn’t differ from traditional produced parts, sometimes with significantly improved quality or mechanical properties.________________________________________

The DMT®-Technology enables technical solutions, which are not thinkable with traditional methods..Castings can be designed with complex internal structure, provided with sensors or cooling channels. Even the high functional component production of metal parts composed of different alloy layers, the repair of complex shapes, modification, re-modeling, and special coatings are possible.

The DMT® 3D Metal Printing Technology already has a wide range of versatile applications and solutions in different industries like Electrical Engineering, Automotive, Medical, Aerospace, Die & Mould.

An Idea of DMT®-TechnologieIn principle 3D Metal Printing Technology is quite easy. Using 3D CAD Data the printer creates a number of 2D layers with slicing method. The 3D shape structure is built mechanically layer by layer supported by a high efficiency laser system and a very special feeding system for metal powder. The laser beam creates a weld pool at the metal surface. Into this pool a precice directed beam of melted metal powder is injected. The powder is melted completely and reinforced again. The laser beam and the weld pool are moving free in all directions controlled by 3D CAD data and configures the required shape layer by layer. Absolutely crucial for high-precision 3D metal printing is an accurate control of layer thickness. The InnsTek DMT®-Technology deploys the in-house developed DMT®closed-loop feedback control system. In real time all parameters referring to layer thickness are controlled permanently during the whole printing process. The result is an extraordinary high density and high accuracy throughout the complete 3D structure. No heat treatment is necessary.

Various innovative solutions using DMT® 3D Metal Printing TechnologyThe method developed by InssTek enables the production of complex 3D shapes without base structure or other preconditions. Create whatever you imagine and fill out the empty working envelope of your 3D Metal Printer with high-duty workpieces controlled as if by magic. Use Single- or Multimaterial 3D printing composed of up to 4 different alloys. Reduce manufacturing costs dramatically or design totally new alloys and functional features, which were not thinkable up to now.

Or you complete pre-manufactured parts using 3D metal printing. Take parts of any shape and geometry and add high-strength coatings with or without ready-made 3D data. Your workpiece can be more stable, wear resistant or more functionable as it could be made of the basic material. The InssTek DMT®-Technology also enables reverse engineering, which means changes of shapes by additive manufacturing. No other technology is more flexible and versatile.
