Construction approvals and coordination are paramount at this site. Highway traffic, CFB traffic and railway clearances must be maintained at all times. Rehabilitation works include jacking and replacement of abutment bearings, girder end repairs, removal and reconstruction of concrete barrier walls, elimination of expansion joints (conversion to semi-integral abutment design), abutment re-facing and wingwall reconstruction. Highway 17 – CPR Overheads, Sudbury - MTO Northeast Region The CPR Overheads (Sudbury) consist of four structures carrying Highway 17 over a single CPR track (leased by the Huron Central Railway). All structures are three span continuous precast concrete girders. The highway configuration at this location consists of separate eastbound and westbound highway structures as well as on and off ramp structures. Design approvals and construction facilitation were negotiated with HCR on behalf of CPR. Rehabilitation works include jacking and replacement of abutment bearings, removal and reconstruction of concrete barrier walls, elimination of expansion joints (conversion to semi-integral abutment design), patch, waterproof and paving of the deck. Highway 17 – CPR Overhead, Nairn Centre - MTO Northeast Region The CPR Overhead (Nairn Centre) is a single span steel girder bridge carrying Highway 17 over a single CPR track (leased by the Huron Central Railway). Due to the very poor condition of the girder and concrete deck, design is underway to fully replace the deck superstructure with precast concrete slabs including the design of semi- integral abutment. Design approvals and construction facilitation is being negotiated with HCR on behalf of CPR. Substructure rehabilitation includes full re-facing of the west abutment and patching of deteriorated concrete on the east abutment and retaining walls. Highway 17 – CNR Overhead, Renfrew - MTO Eastern Region The CNR Overhead (Renfrew) carries Highway 17 over a former single CNR track. The bridge is a three span post-tensioned solid slab. Rehabilitation works include jacking and replacement of abutment bearings, removal and reconstruction of concrete barrier walls, replacement of expansion joints, patch, waterproof and paving of the deck.
