have been the catch phrase that C+C Music Factory used to rock the 90s, but with Dj Karan in the house, it is a phrase that comes alive with each tune he spins.

A self-trained disc jockey, Karan has spent a decade making people groove to his tunes. Having grown up listening to the best in music from retro to rock, country and old skool Hip-hop, Karan decided at a young age that the music industry needed to make space for him, because join it he would. He started playing the

guitar at 10. But once he got his hands on a dj mixer at 13, he knew exactly what part of the industry would be making place for him.

He began by doing gigs for friends at their house parties and such during his days in college. He juggled college and his

passion for music by performing at various college functions and even joining the Malhar (St Xavier’s College Fest) sound team. Knowing the road he wanted his career to take, Karan worked with a leading sound company t o i n c r e a s e h i s technical know-how. But he never stopped playing. Slowly but surely, he built a steady and dependable name for himself in the private circuit in Mumbai and around India and in 2010 started playing commercially.

He hasn’t looked back since. Unless of course he is going through his old records!

From Hip-hop to house to dance music, Dj Karan spins it all.

But ask him what his favourite

tunes entail and without hesitation he will tell you its Hip-hop that

steals his soul and makes it dance.

Music is equivalent to life, so he believes. For Karan, music is the

best medium to release energy and

to re-energise oneself. Karan loves to experience different genres of

music and experiment with them.

It greatly pleases him that so many underground genres are becoming

more mainstream in India. He can

see a new wind blowing through the Indian music scene and is

happy to be a part of it.
