ESEA, reauthorized as The No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 (NCLB), provides benefits to private school students, teachers, and other education personnel, including those in religiously affiliated schools.

• Provides funds for education improvement programs, instructional and media materials, library materials, professional development, and other activities.

Innovative Programs support education reform and innovative school improvement programs to improve school, student and teacher performance. Private school students, teachers and other education personnel may receive professional development, library materials, and educational equipment.

• Schools have the flexibility to design and implement innovative projects and activities within one or more of 27 areas to serve locally identified needs.

Projects and activities must be:
