From the Desk of Father Pauselli Congratulations to Charlotte Susan Koscal who was baptizwd last weekend at Divine Mercy. Charlotte Susan was born on

May 10, 2015. She is the daughter of Lawrence and Sherri Bender Koscal. May the Lord bless Charlotte Susan and her family

on this most special occasion!

Congratulations also to Gabrielle Grace Beauvais who will be baptized this weekend at Divine Mercy. Gabrielle Grace is the

daughter of Bruce Beauvais and Khara Dudek Beauvais. She was born on November 7, 2014. May the Lord bless Gabrielle

Grace and her family on this most special occasion!

This is the week of our annual parish picnic. Thanks to all who have already participated in this event by purchasing a raffle

ticket and those who have worked so hard to ensure its success. Say a prayer that we have good weather on Thursday, Friday,

and Saturday of this week! With the profits from this year’s picnic we hope to replace our main entrance doors, repair our kneelers, put new carpeting in the Church and increase our parking area. I hope to see all of you at this fine event!

I am pleased to announce that Jessica Segilia will be joining our staff on Monday, June 8. Jessica’s role is still being defined

but I see her as a family life and parish life coordinator and working with our middle school students. Jessica’s degree is in

family development and I see her and her work as a valuable asset to our parish community. Welcome, Jessica!

A FRESH PERSPECTIVE ON THE SUNDAY READINGS HIS WORD TODAY by Rev. William J. Reilly

The Most Holy Trinity May 31, 2015

“Then Jesus approached and said to them, „All power in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go, there-fore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always until the end of the ages.‟”

Once again we ascend a mountain, the place where God so often revealed Himself. Jesus approached the eleven, and He approaches me as well. He gave them a commission, and He speaks that same message to me as I read a too- familiar text. Because it is so well known we might quickly read and move on. But wait a minute.

The apostles were sent to make disciples, missionary disciples in the words of Pope Francis. This is accomplished through the sacraments, with baptism leading the way. A teaching accompanies the mission, to love God above all things and neighbor as ourselves, not just to follow what I think is acceptable and not uncomfortable.

The final element of the commissioning experience is the assurance of the ongoing and abiding presence of the Lord to direct and sustain us. When the Spirit of Pentecost transformed them, the mission began, and continues through me today. All of us are called and sent as missionary disciples.

The Greatest Gift Do you have a family member or neighbor who cannot leave their home to attend Mass and receive the Blessed Sacra-

ment? Our Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion are here to serve your loved ones by bringing them the gift of

Christ Himself, the greatest gift that can be given. If you know of someone we should be serving, please contact Vince

Klingler at 570-205-5716 or [email protected] for arrangements.

HOSPITALITY MINISTRY Men and women who have available time in the morning are invited to participate in Serving Families and Friends who

are grieving. Duties of the greeters are to offer a warm welcome to guests and provide the program which will help them

take part in the Funeral Mass. Volunteers may stay for the Mass or leave after the family and friends have been seated.

Members of the Hospitality Committee might be called to help once or twice a month. Please call Rose Marie Kloss at

570-562-0871 for more information.

BLOOD DRIVE/HEALTH FAIR PLANNING

The Social Concerns Committee is again planning a Blood Drive in the Parish Center on

Saturday, July 25, beginning at 9 A.M. until 3 P.M. Having done this for the first time

last year, we believe this year’s drive can be bigger and more successful. Further details

on Blood Donation will be available as we move closer to the date.

In addition, we are looking at the possibility of a "Health Fair" throughout the day with

health care providers/vendors volunteering their services. We are looking for parishioners

who work in health care services as a vendor or individuals working in the healthcare pro-

fession who may be interested in donating their time.

If you would like to assist, please respond no later than June 1 to give us an idea of who

would like to be part of the health fair and in what way you would be able to assist. The

Committee is open to hearing your ideas as well as questions you may have. If you are

interested, please email your ideas in this regard to Marty Castaldi at

[email protected] and/or Sr. Janet at [email protected]. We look forward

to hearing from as many of you as possible.

Together, as a parish, we can make it happen.
