“God is rich in mercy . . .” Ephesians 2:4

L oving and faithful God, through the years the people of our archdiocese have appreciated the prayers and

love of Our Lady of Prompt Succor in times of war, disaster, epidemic and illness. We come to you, Father, with Mary our Mother, and ask you to help us in the battle of today

against violence, murder and racism.

We implore you to give us your wisdom that we may build a community founded on the values of Jesus, which gives respect to the

life and dignity of all people.

Bless parents that they may form their chil-dren in faith. Bless and protect our youth that they may be peacemakers of our time. Give consolation to those who have lost

loved ones through violence.

Hear our prayer and give us the persever-ance to be a voice for life and human dignity

in our community.

We ask this through Christ our Lord. Our Lady of Prompt Succor, hasten to help

us.

Mother Henriette Delille, pray for us that we

may be a holy family.

Communion Bread for the World

Refrain

Bread for the world:

a world of hunger.

Wine for all peoples:

people who thirst.

May we who eat be bread for others.

May we who drink pour out our love.

1. Lord Jesus Christ,

you are the bread of life,

broken to reach and heal the wounds

of human pain.

Where we divide your people, you are

wai ng there on bended knee

to wash our feet with endless care.

2. Lord Jesus Christ,

you are the wine of peace,

poured into hearts once broken

and where dryness sleeps.

Where we are red and weary,

you are wai ng there to be the way

which beckons us beyond despair.

3. Lord Jesus Christ,

you call us to your feast,

at which the rich and pow'rful

have become the least.

Where we survive on others

in our human greed,

you walk among us

begging for your ev'ry need.

broken for all.

Eat now and hunger no more.

2. You are my friends

if you keep my

commands, no longer

servants but friends.

3. See how my people

have nothing to eat.

Give them the bread that is you.

journey; the journey of life with its highs and its lows. Our God has always known how weak we would be and how much we would need His love to persevere to the end. By feeding regularly on the “bread of life” we will always know the right path. Jesus gave His life so that we might have life. “Out of His side flowed blood and “Out of His side flowed blood and “Out of His side flowed blood and “Out of His side flowed blood and water.”water.”water.”water.” John 19:34. This was Christ, the only Son of the Father, giving his all for our salvation. His Sacred Heart pierced and emptied for us – to the last drop. “I am the living bread that came down from heaven; “I am the living bread that came down from heaven; “I am the living bread that came down from heaven; “I am the living bread that came down from heaven; whoever eats this bread will live forever…my flesh for whoever eats this bread will live forever…my flesh for whoever eats this bread will live forever…my flesh for whoever eats this bread will live forever…my flesh for the life of the world.” the life of the world.” the life of the world.” the life of the world.” John 6:51 Jesus promises not only life in this world but eternal life with Him. Can I ever un-derstand the full meaning of this while still on earth? Probably not, but if I am faithful to His invitation I will live it forever. Live in His Heart through the enthronement of the Sa-cred Heart. Prayer for VocationsPrayer for VocationsPrayer for VocationsPrayer for Vocations God of Pentecost, you renew the Church in every age by raising up men and women outstanding in holiness. We pray for the women and men—priests, deacons, religious, married and single—that you’re calling to lead the New Evangelization and the New Springtime. We pray for their holi-ness, their ability to hear your call and the free-dom they need to say “yes” to you. Grant them courage, vision and passion to serve your people. May their lives inspire us to respond to the pres-ence of the Holy Spirit as you inflame the Church throughout the world, raising up a generation of Saints on fire for you. AMEN.

Act of Spiritual Communion My Jesus, I believe that You are in the Blessed Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I long for You in my soul. Since I cannot now receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. As though You have already come, I embrace You and unite myself en-tirely to You; never permit me to be separated from You.
