aflatoxin.
Animal shed roofs should be repaired to avoid rain water getting into the sheds.
Agriculture (Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Kattupakkam)
Imp. Crops: Rice, Sugarcane and Groundnut
Due to expected rainfall farmers are advised to defer fertilizer application for crops.
Karaikal & Puducherry
As moderate to rather heavy rain is expected from 21st to 24th November avoid irrigation, intercultural
operation and application of plant protection measures and fertilizers to the crops.

of water) may be given.
During rainy days, goats may be affected with viral enteritis. As and when diarrhoea is noticed,
immediate treatment should be done at the veterinary dispensary and do not allow the goats to graze
outside.

Crop/ Ecosystem
Stage / Activities Advisories
Low pressure A well marked low pressure area lies over southwest Bay of Bengal & adjoining northeast Srilanka. Associated cyclonic circulation extends upto 5.8 km above mean sea level. It is likely to concentrate into a depression during next 24 hours.
General Rainfall Light to moderate rain fall is expected in coming days.
Rainfed & irrigated crops
Water management
Provide adequate drainage facilities in the fields to avoid water stagnation / logging condition.
All the crops Disease incidence Very high cloud cover and high humidity is favorable for disease incidence. So, farmers are advised to monitor the crop and adopt prophylactic measure at the suitable time.
Pulses Flowering to pod development Stage
Pod borer incidence is noticed - ETL: 10% of affected pods For controlling this pest spray Chlorantraniliprole 18.5 SC @ 150 ml/ha or Emamectin benzoate 5% SG @ 220 g/ha. As high cloud cover is expected in the coming days is conducive for the spreading of Yellow mosaic virus. - spray Dimethoate 30 EC 500 ml / ha or Thiamethoxam 75 WS 1 g/ litre at rainless days.
Banana Bunch development stage
As wind speed with 10-15 km/hr is expected in the coming days provide support for banana and do propping for sugarcane.
Cotton Vegetative stage Thrips incidence was noticed. The affected plants show symptoms of crinkling and upward curling of leaves and elongation of petiole. For controlling this pest spray imidachloprid 200 SL @100 ml or Dimethoate 30 % EC @500 ml/hec or NSKE 5% @ 2 kg/ha

Salem,Namakkal,Dharmapuri & Krishnagiri
The low pressure area formed in Bay of Bengal is expected to cross the coast between Cuddalore and Chennai on 21-11-2018 and thereafter it is set to traverse over central and north Tamil Nadu including Namakkal. As it traverses, it is likely to bring in good rains to many parts of Namakkal in the next two days. Poultry farmers should take preventive measures like covering sides of poultry sheds, more importantly for chick and grower birds. Care should also be taken to frequently check for any wetting of feed in the feeders and also to have the feed stored safely. Special Agro advisory from Krishi Vigyan Kendra: Farmers are advised to prepare the land for Groundnut sowing during karthigai pattam (Rabi season ) to utilize next three days rainfall. Also advised to take up Blackgram sowing with available moisture content. Intercultural operations like weeding and fertilizer application in Groundnut crop to be done with available rainfall.

Ariyalur,Thanjavur, Karur, Nagapattinam, Perambalur,Tiruvarur & Thiruchirapalli
Crop: Rice Stage: Samba: Panicle initiation stage; Thaladi: Tillering stage Since light to heavy rainfall is expected in the next five days, application of fertilizer and herbicide can be postponed and provide adequate drainage. Provide adequate drainage facilities to drain the excess rainwater present in the paddy fields to improve better aeration in the root zone. Livestock To protect the animals from cold weather, gunny bags have to be hanged at the spots from where the frosty air enters. These gunny bags have to be hanged down starting from sunset till the sunrise next morning.

By utilizing the rainfall, top dressing of urea 140 kg/ha and MOP 25 kg/ha may be done to maize crop. Best time for second does application of fertilizer to coconut at 650 g urea + 1 kg super phosphate + 1 kg muriate of potash / tree. Due to continuous wet weather vegetative growth is observed in mango and to induce flowering spray paclobutrazole 10g ai or 1% KNO3. Since weather condition is favourable for blast incidence in rice farmers are requested to monitor the crop carefully and spray initially with tricyclozone @ 1g / litter followed by second spray with 1g carbendazim / litter of water.
Considering the wet spell animals may be given vaccination against foot and mouth disease if not given earlier. Also provide drainage to cattle and poultry sheds.
